Subaru PH Introduces 2021 Forester GT Lite For P1.980M

The Subaru Forester GT Lite gets most of the full-fledged GT Edition's enhancements but at a slightly lower price tag.

Motor Image Pilipinas, Inc. (MIP), the exclusive distributor of Subaru vehicles in the Philippines, introduces the new 2021 Subaru Forester GT Lite.

The new Forester GT Lite is basically the 2.0i-L variant but with mostly the same styling elements as the full-fledged Forester GT Edition variant. These include a sporty set of front bumper extensions, side skirts, rear bumper extensions and roof spoiler. What’s absent in this variant are the sporty 18-inch alloy wheels. Like the Forester and XV GT Edition, these upgrades were designed in close collaboration with renowned engineering company Giken Co. Ltd and Masahiko “Jack” Kobayashi.

As a recap, Kobayashi-san worked with Subaru for 25 years. He is the man behind the Outback, the current generation WRX and WRX STI sports sedans, Levorg sports wagon, and the first-generation XV.

Because this is the GT Lite, this variant also does not get the same interior upholstery upgrades as the GT Edition. Nevertheless, the Forester GT Lite still remains to be one of the most well-equipped compact crossover SUVs out there. The front seats feature power adjustment with memory for the driver, along with an 8-inch touch screen infotainment system, dual-zone climate control, power liftgate, rear aircon vents, rear USB ports, just to name a few.

Like all current Subaru Foresters, the GT Lite is powered by the brand’s tried-and-tested 2.0-liter horizontally-opposed four-cylinder boxer engine that produces 156 hp and 196 Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via Subaru’s Lineartronic CVT.

As for safety, the Subaru Forester GT Lite comes with the brand’s signature EyeSigh suite of advanced driver-assist features which includes full-speed adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, just to name a few. This comes on top of Subaru’s typically generous set of safety features, including a plethora of airbags, electronic stability control and steering-responsive LED headlights.

The 2021 Subaru Forester GT Lite is now on sale across all dealers for P1,980,000. As a special introductory offer, this new variant comes with a P50,000 discount this February only. Interested in other variants? Here are the prices of the rest of the Forester range:

  • Forester GT Edition – P2,170,000
  • Forester i-S EyeSight – P2,068,000
  • Forester i-L EyeSight – P1,938,000
