The highly-anticipated Toyota GR Yaris is now open for pre-order in the Philippines. However, not all dealers are certified to retail Toyota’s latest hot hatch.
According to Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP), the GR Yaris will only go on sale through its certified GR Performance dealerships, which are the following:
METRO MANILA | LUZON | VISAYAS | MINDANAO |
Toyota Alabang
Toyota Commonwealth Toyota Global City Toyota Makati Toyota Manila Bay Toyota Otis Toyota Quezon Avenue |
Toyota Bacoor, Cavite
Toyota Batangas City Toyota Calamba, Laguna Toyota La Union Toyota San Fernando, Pampanga Toyota San Pablo, Laguna |
Toyota Cebu City
Toyota Mabolo, Cebu
|
Toyota Davao City
|
Set to arrive in the Philippines this July with a P2,650,000 price tag, TMP confirms that the GR Yaris features will feature the world’s most powerful inline-3 gasoline engine. Thanks to turbocharging, it produces 257 hp (261 PS) and 360 Nm of torque, with power being sent through a bespoke GR-Four 4WD system.
The powertrain specs are already expected, since all Toyota GR Yaris models have this same engine, albeit in slightly different states of tune depending on the market and presumably the fuel quality of the country that the GR Yaris is destined to be sold. What we’re more interested at this point is whether our GR Yaris will feature the optional Circuit/Performance Pack.
With the optional pack, this adds all the bits and pieces that made the GR Yaris so popular and loved by enthusiasts all over the world in the first place, mainly the Torsen LSD, which has the ability to shuffle power from side to side, making the GR Yaris claw better onto the road. Without the aforementioned Torsen LSD, the GR Yaris handles significantly different since it features a conventional open differential at the front and rear axles.
Also part of the optional Circuit/Performance Pack are lightweight 18-inch BBS forged alloy wheels, Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires, stiffer springs and anti-roll bars, and a retuned suspension and power steering. Taking a look at our ASEAN neighbors, the Malaysian GR Yaris comes with the Performance Pack as standard, so we certainly hope that our GR Yaris will be fitted with these features.
The Toyota GR Yaris will officially be launched this July, though TMP says that their latest hot hatch will make surprise appearances at its upcoming events. Interested in this hot hatch? Be sure to make your reservation as soon as possible because only a limited number of units will be brought into our country.
