It has been 40 legendary years of BMW GS models. To pay homage to one of the most successful lineups of bikes, SMC Asia Car Distributors Corp, the official distributor of BMW automobiles and motorcycles in the Philippines has launched the BMW 40 Years GS lineup, which consists of six motorcycle models that will be wearing the 40 Years GS limited edition specifications. These units will only be available this year in limited quantities.
With the BMW R 100 GS being the pioneer of endurance riding, the 40 years GS limited edition’s design is inspired with it. The six bikes that will be having the specifications are the BMW G 310 GS, F 750 GS, F 850 GS, RnineT Urban GS, R 1250 GS, and the R 1250 GS Adventure. In addition to the beautiful design that these bikes have adopted, BMW Motorrad has also given these bikes added features that give riders a more enjoyable and comfortable riding experience.
Aside from the 310-cc water-cooled, single cylinder, 4-stroke DOHC that powers it up; the ‘Baby GS’, G 310 GS is equipped with BMW Motorrad ABS, with ride by wire technology. It also comes with adjustable brake and clutch levers, LED headlight and indicators, stainless steel exhaust and luggage rack as standard.
Meanwhile, the BMW F 750 GS is equipped with more features to give riders more pleasure; such as BMW Motorrad ABS Pro, Dynamic Traction Control with MSR, LED headlights and indicators with Daytime Running Light (DRL), a full-colored 6.5 inch TFT display, Riding modes pro (Dynamic/Enduro), adjustable brake and clutch levers, 12 V and USB power socket, a gear shift assistant pro, RDC (Tire Pressure Control) with a keyless ride. Not bad eh?
Its bigger brother, the BMW F 850 GS has the same added features as what the 750 GS received, but with added gold wheels, which makes the bike look even better in my opinion.
Among the BMW 40 Years GS Lineup, I truly fell in love with the BMW RnineT Urban GS 40 Years Edition. Aside from its astounding looks, the limited edition R nineT urban GS receives the Option 719 cylinder head covers, BMW Motorrad ABS, a speed indicator with on-board computer, LED Headlights with Daytime Running Light, Automatic Stability Control (ASC), USB charging socket, Riding Modes Pro which includes “Dirt” riding mode, cruise control, heated grips, off-road tires, and most importantly, those gold wheels.
Two of the biggest stars in the lineup, the BMW R 1250 GS and R 1250 GS Adventure, shares most of the added specifications, such as the Black and Yellow Option 719-cylinder head covers, LED headlights with Adaptive cornering Function and cruising light, Dynamic ESA with automatic load leveling and damping, Riding Modes Pro (Dynamic, Dynamic Pro, Enduro, Enduro Pro), just to name a few. What really sets apart the R 1250 GSA from the R 1250 GS is its longer suspension travel, bigger fuel tank, and its added crash protection.
