All British Cars (ABC), the sole authorized dealer of Jaguar Land Rover vehicles, parts, and accessories in the Philippines, officially announces the arrival of the 2021 Land Rover Discovery. Only one variant is on offer, and that is the diesel-fed S D250 variant that features a 48-volt mild hybrid system.
On the outside, the 2021 Land Rover Discovery receives a minor refresh. Though it’s hard to notice at first glance, the front grille and front bumpers have been slightly updated. There’s also a new set of LED lighting elements along with a revised rear bumper design. The tailgate now features a black trim piece which sort of improves its asymmetrical design.
Interior changes for the 2021 Land Rover Discovery are much more pronounced. The steering wheel and buttons are new for 2021, along with a new design for the electronic gear shifter. The main highlight, however, is the new Pivi Pro 11.4-inch touch screen infotainment system that first appeared in the refreshed Jaguar XF. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with the addition of over-the-air (OTA) updates. This works in conjunction with the newly-revised fully-digital gauge cluster.
Powering this new Land Rover Discovery S D250 is a mild hybrid 3.0-liter inline-6 turbo diesel that’s mated to a 48-volt integrated starter generator (ISG). Combined output is at 249 hp and 570 Nm of torque, with power being sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Off-roading is part of the Land Rover Discovery’s breadth of capabilities. As such, this three-row luxury SUV is equipped with an air suspension that raises the ground clearance from 207 mm to 283 mm, Land Rover’s signature Terrain Response switchable AWD system, ClearSight ground view cameras, and a wade sensor that displays in the infotainment system the depth of the water.
In addition, the new Discovery is also equipped with cruise control, lane keeping assist, 3D surround view cameras, a plethora of airbags, emergency brake assist which boosts braking power if the vehicle senses the driver is repeatedly applying the brakes, brake pad wear indicator, just to name a few.
The new 2021 Land Rover Discovery is now on sale for P6,490,000 at All British Cars Greenhills and Bonifacio Global City.
