The 2022 Lexus ES has finally landed in the Philippines after teasers were released by the Japanese automaker just last week. While the F Sport did not make it here in the Philippines, the biggest surprise is the availability of a new hybrid variant, which also serves as the entry-level ES.
Two variants will be available: the aforementioned hybrid called the ES 300h and the ES 350 Premiere. Whatever variant you choose, you get a midsize luxury sedan with a reshaped Spindle Grille that now features an L-shaped pattern. Lexus has also updated the car’s LED headlights, while the side profile and rear end remain largely unchanged. The ES 300h rides on 17-inch wheels, while the ES 350 F Sport rides on 18-inch wheels.
The interior design largely remains unchanged. The main highlight, however, is the new Lexus Remote Touch infotainment system, wherein it now features an 8-inch screen for the ES 300h or 12.3-inches in the case of the ES 350 Premiere. Interior materials and quality remain largely the same, which isn’t exactly a bad thing since the Lexus ES always had an impressively luxurious interior.
In terms of equipment, the ES 300h gets 8-way powered front seats, powered rear sunshades, head-up display, dual-zone climate control, power-adjustable steering column, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, just to name a few. Upgrading to the ES 350 Premiere adds 10-way powered front seats, front seat ventilation, wood and leather steering wheel, hands-free powered trunk lid, LED ambient lighting, rain sensing wipers, 17-speaker Mark Levinson sound system, wireless charging, among other add ons.
As mentioned, the 2022 Lexus ES gets a new hybrid powertrain option in the form of the ES 300h. This variant features a 2.5-liter hybrid powertrain that has a total system output of 215 hp. The ES 350 Premiere now serves as the top trim variant, and it has a 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine that produces 302 hp and 356 Nm of torque. The ES 300h using an eCVT while the ES 350 uses an 8-speed automatic
New for the 2022 Lexus ES 350 Premiere variant is the addition of the Lexus Safety System+, which bundles Lane Tracing Assist, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Pre-Collision System, AHS (Adaptive High-beam System), and AHB (Automatic High Beam) into one package. This comes on top of BSM (Blind Spot Monitor System), RCTA (Rear Cross Traffic Alert System), and a 360-degree camera system with front and rear clearance sensors.
The new 2022 Lexus ES is now available at Lexus Manila for P3,758,000 for the ES 300h and P4,728,000 for the ES 350 Premiere.
