Nissan Philippines has begun teasing the 2022 Nissan Almera, yet it seems one of our writers, Jerald Valdez, was able to see it before its local launch. The Japanese automaker has not yet announced a launch date, but judging by these dealer photos, it seems we don’t have to wait any longer before its official reveal.
Shown in his photos is a grey VL Turbo N Sport variant that was shown in the teasers, along with probably a base or mid-level variant. The N Sport is rocking a sporty front and rear lip that’s painted in silver along with a sporty set of two-tone alloy wheels. The lower variants ride on a smaller set of silver alloy wheels.
We can also confirm a few features, such as push-button start, an 8-inch Nissan Connect infotainment system, 7-inch part-digital gauge cluster, and a soft padded dashboard that’s similar to the new Nissan Terra’s. In the case of the VL N Sport Turbo, this is upholstered in white, while the lower variant has a black padded dash.
Based on Nissan’s own teasers, we can officially confirm that a number of Nissan Intelligent Mobility safety features are also offered, such as the 360-degree camera, though whether all variants will have this set of safety tech is another question.
Also confirmed is the Almera-exclusive turbocharged engine. While not the first in its segment to do so (that title goes towards the discontinued Ford Fiesta EcoBoost), it is currently the only subcompact sedan right now with such an engine. In this case, it’s a 1.0-liter inline-3 turbo gasoline engine that produces 100 hp and a strong torque figure of 152 Nm. Based on our ASEAN neighbors, the available transmission choices are either a 5-speed manual or a CVT.
We still have no clue on the Almera’s pricing as of the moment, though it’s safe to say that as with Nissan’s usual strategy, it should be priced very competitively.
Nissan Philippines is already accepting reservations for test drive slots for the 2022 Nissan Almera, which you can visit through this link. What do you think of the Nissan Almera? Do you like the way it looks? Are you excited to see it in person?
As mentioned in our first paragraph, our own Jerald Valdez shot the photo.
