2022 Mazda 2 Launched In PH In Sole Hatchback Form For P1.195M

The 2022 Mazda 2 receives significant upgrades for this year, including a new premium interior and the discontinuation of the sedan.

Mazda Philippines is basically giving nearly its entire lineup an update for this year. The 2022 Mazda 2 has also been launched by the Japanese automaker and giving it every single bell and whistle it possibly can.

Now available solely in hatchback form, the new Mazda 2 1.5 Premium carries on the styling from the 2020 facelift, while also adding a dose of style for this upcoming 2022 model year. New for this year are full LED headlights with circular LED daytime running lights and 16-inch black alloy wheels. Two new premium colors are also available for the 2022 Mazda 2, and these are Polymetal Gray and Platinum Quartz.

As for the interior, the Mazda 2 gets a solid upgrade in the form of a leather-wrapped lower dashboard, door panels, and seats, all of which are finished in a dark blue hue. Mazda’s head-up display also makes a return this year, along with an analog tachometer flanked by two digital meters. The 7-inch Mazda Connect infotainment system is still here, and it now gets wired Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, and a wireless charging pad.

Powering the 2022 Mazda 2 is the same 1.5-liter Skyactiv-G gasoline engine as before, and it produces 110 hp and 141 Nm of torque. This is then mated to a 6-speed automatic, driving the front wheels.

To fully complete its move upmarket, the 2022 Mazda 2’s safety suite is enhanced by six airbags, reverse camera, electronic stability control, rear parking sensors, and a full suite of the brand’s i-Activsense safety features such as front and rear automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, blind spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, and driver attention alert. This makes the Mazda 2 the most fully-loaded subcompact passenger car on sale. 

These significant upgrade to push the Mazda 2 upmarket comes with a price tag to match. At P1,195,000, it’s now the most expensive subcompact passenger car on sale. Your entry point to the Mazda brand has now breached past P1 million, and there’s no stopping the company in its significant push to make Mazda a premium brand.
