The all-new 2022 Kia Sorento has finally reached the Philippines more than a year since it made its global debut. The all-new midsize premium crossover SUV is also the first model in the Philippines to wear Kia’s new logo design.
Two variants will be sold in the Philippines: EX and SX. Whichever the case, the all-new 2022 Kia Sorento carries a very distinctive appearance, making it stand out in a sea of same-same three-row crossovers.
Whichever variant you choose, it gets a striking front end that’s characterized by an evolution of Kia’s ‘tiger nose’ grille that seamlessly integrates with the LED daytime running lights. Of course, the headlights themselves are done in LEDs, and so are the striking split LED taillights which look completely distinct from other SUVs.
At the sides, the Kia Sorento features a striking silver trim piece that juts out at the C-pillars, which is a design piece that’s also seen in the Europe-only Kia ProCeed sports wagon.
Kia stretched the Sorento’s wheelbase while reducing its overhangs. Not only does it translate to a sportier stance, but also increased interior room, which is well trimmed and beautifully crafted. You even get real metal details and quilted leather upholstery. Front and center is an 8-inch touch screen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on all variants. Exclusive to the top-trim SX comes are a 12.3-inch fully-digital instrument cluster, powered and ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, wireless charger, electronic parking brake, just to name a few.
Under the hood of the 2022 Kia Sorento is a 2.2-liter Smartstream diesel engine that produces 201 hp and 441 Nm of torque. This is mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission driving the front wheels.
As for safety, the all-new 2022 Kia Sorento gets 6 airbags, electronic stability control, all-around parking sensors, and ABS with EBD. Exclusive to the top trim SX is a blind spot warning with cameras, front and rear automatic emergency braking, rear cross traffic alert, 360-degree camera, and Hyundai Kia’s lane following assist.
The all-new 2022 Kia Sorento will go on sale in the fourth week of November for the top trim SX variant, while the EX will go on sale in January 2022.
