Kia Philippines is proud to announce that the 2022 Kia Carnival has reached Philippine shores. No formal launch date has been announced yet, but we expect it to happen at the very least in February.
Over the years, minivans and MPVs have seen a decline in sales in favor of SUVs mainly due to their image. As trivial as it may sound, this has led Kia to transform the Carnival into something that looks more adventurous. Marketed as a “Grand Utility Vehicle,” the fourth-generation Kia Carnival wants to attract buyers gravitating towards SUVs with its radical new design.
Whereas the current Carnival has the typical short hood, cab-forward design of a minivan, this all-new model features a longer hood that gives it a more SUV-like silhouette. Another distinctive design feature of the all-new Carnival is the satin silver trip from the C-pillars that wraps around the rear windshield. There’s also a new LED taillight design that runs along its width. Further giving the Carnival a more rugged appearance are its front and rear faux skid plates, which are finished in matte silver.
For now, Kia Philippines is still mostly silent about some of its specs, but these are what they confirmed. The all-new 2022 Kia Carnival will be equipped with full LED exterior lighting, powered tailgate and sliding doors, power-adjustable second-row captain seats with ottoman leg rest and ventilation, dual sliding sunroofs, and an infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Powertrain options were also not yet released as of this moment, though we expect that it will continue to be offered with a 2.2-liter turbo diesel engine found in the current model. Other engine choices for various markets include a 2.5-liter turbo petrol engine and a hybrid powertrain consisting of a 1.6-liter turbo petrol engine and an electric motor.
Kia Philippines will reveal more information as the Carnival’s launch date draws nearer.
