Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has officially launched the all-new, first-ever Raize, which is their smallest and most affordable SUV yet. But before you head to your nearest dealer, here are all the things that you need to know about the all-new 2022 Toyota Raize.
As mentioned in our prior article, the 2022 Toyota Raize will come in 4 variants: 1.2 E MT, 1.2 E CVT, 1.2 G CVT, and 1.0 Turbo CVT. Starting with the base 1.2 E variants, these get halogen headlights and daytime running lights, LED taillights, matte black tailgate garnish, and 16-inch alloy wheels. Stepping up to the 1.2 G benefits you with full LED headlights and daytime running lights, LED sequential turn signals, and a piano black tailgate garnish. And then finally, the top trim 1.0 Turbo gets a black contrasting roof along with bigger 17-inch two-tone wheels.
As for the interior, equipment levels are equally generous as the base 1.2 E variants get steering wheel controls, fabric seats, analog LED-lit gauges, speed-sensing door locks, digital manual aircon controls, and an 8-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Stepping up to the 1.2 G adds a six-speaker audio system, 7-inch digital gauge cluster, leather steering wheel, passive entry with push-button start, and single-zone automatic climate control. Lastly, the top trim 1.0 Turbo gets fabric and synthetic leather combination seats, paddle shifters, and a larger 9-inch infotainment system, also with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The two engine choices for the 2022 Toyota Raize include a 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbo gasoline engine that produces 97 horsepower and 140 Nm of torque, while the base engine is a non-turbo 1.2-liter that produces 87 horsepower and 113 Nm of torque. The turbo motor comes exclusively with a CVT, while the 1.2-liter engine can be had with a CVT or a 5-speed manual transmission.
And then lastly, as for safety, even the base 1.2 E variants get rear parking sensors, dual SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill start assist, and even a seat belt reminder for all five seats. The 1.2 G variant then benefits from a reverse camera, while the top-of-the-range 1.0 Turbo benefits from six airbags, blind spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, plus front and rear parking sensors.
Based on these specifications, Toyota is definitely on to a winner here in the subcompact SUV segment. And to make things even more interesting, the Toyota Raize even undercuts its major Chinese competition in terms of price, such as the Geely Coolray and MG ZS.
