2022 MIAS: Volvo Cars PH Showcases Its 2022 Mild-Hybrid Range

Volvo Cars Philippines has unveiled its new range of Boost hybrid luxury vehicles, and you can see them first at the 2022 MIAS.

Volvo Cars Philippines is using the 2022 Manila International Auto Show as a venue to introduce its 2022 mild-hybrid electric vehicle (MHEV) range of luxury cars. This includes the 2022 facelifted models of the Volvo XC60, XC90, and S90.

The 2022 range of Volvos available in the Philippines now come with top-end trims and exterior enhancements. The Volvo XC60, for example, sports a revamped grille and front bumpers plus a sportier take with its unique R-Design styling details. Some of its other features inside include a revamped 12-inch Sensus infotainment system, which is now running software that was developed by Google, a head-up display, a Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system, panoramic sunroof, just to name a few.

On the other hand, the Volvo S90 flagship luxury sedan is made even more spacious and premium as the Swedish luxury automaker brings in the long-wheelbase variant in the Inscription package. As a result, you now have a midsize luxury sedan with nearly the same amount of rear legroom as what you’d find in a larger full-size luxury sedan. Other features include an Orrefors crystal gear shifter, head-up display, the same revamped Sensus infotainment in the XC60, Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system, and rear sunshades, among other features.

Volvo’s flagship luxury SUV, the XC90, is made even more magnificent with the added comfort and luxurious details that come with the Inscription trim. This comes with the Orrefors crystal gear shifter, panoramic sunroof, a Harman Kardon premium sound system, head-up display, a revamped Sensus infotainment system, ventilated front seats, rear sunshades, among others.

Of course, being a Volvo, all of these cars are equipped with top-notch advanced driver-assistance tech features all as standard, and this includes stuff such as automatic emergency braking with pedestrian, cyclist, and animal detection; radar-guided full-speed adaptive cruise control; lane departure warning; lane keeping assist; blind spot warning with steering assist; rear cross traffic alert; just to name a few.

Offered in common across all of these three models is the new B6 engine. Previously known as the flagship T6 engine, it is now retitled as the B6 with the introduction of a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that has the Integrated Starter Generator (ISG). This engine is called the Boost hybrid, and this is composed of a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engine along with the aforementioned 48-volt ISG. The pairing gives a combined power of 313 hp and 460 Nm of torque, and as a result, fuel efficiency is also improved and now sits at 9.4 liters/100km.

Apart from reduced fuel consumption and tailpipe emissions, the Boost engine provides a more seamless and instantaneous response thanks to the electric motor’s assistance. By recuperating the brake energy, the 2022 Volvo Boost Hybrid range offers both improved performance and lower fuel consumption and emissions.

If you want to take a look at the revamped Volvo XC60, XC90, and S90 with the Boost hybrid powertrain, you can visit the Volvo Cars Philippines booth at the 2022 Manila International Auto Show, which runs from today until April 10, 2022.
