Chery Auto Philippines has just unveiled the all-new Tiggo 8 Pro. This midsize electrified crossover SUV is the boldest, most powerful vehicle that the Chinese automaker is bringing to the Philippines. The Chery Tiggo 8 Pro is also their first electrified vehicle in our market.
The main headline here is its plug-in hybrid powertrain, which combines a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbo gasoline engine that produces 155 hp and 230 Nm of torque. The two electric motors then produce 34 hp and 80 Nm at the front, while those at the rear produce 54 hp and 70 Nm. This is then mated to a so-called “unique hybrid transmission gearbox”, and when the batteries are topped up (which happens in as little as three hours), the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro can travel without consuming a drop of fuel for up to 95 km.
There’s also a non-electrified powertrain on offer, and this is a 1.6-liter turbo four-cylinder gasoline engine that produces 183 horsepower and 275 Nm of torque. This drives the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.
The Chery Tiggo 8 Pro is by far the Chinese automaker’s largest SUV yet. Its front fascia is dominated by an octagonal grille with a studded mesh pattern. There are also splashes of chrome trim in various places around the vehicle for a more premium look. At the back, there’s a set of distinct LED taillights, integrated exhausts, and a well-proportioned rear end.
Likewise, the interior is also one of Chery’s largest yet in an SUV. In line with the car’s premium exterior, the interior also consists of a generous amount of soft-touch surfaces and premium materials. The leather seats feature diamond quilting plus there are also a host of luxurious amenities such as a 7-inch digital gauge cluster, 12.3-inch touch screen with Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, power-adjustable front seats, touch panel climate control, powered tailgate, just to name a few.
The Tiggo 8 Pro is also the first vehicle in its local lineup to feature a host of advanced driver-assistance tech, which ranges from things like automatic emergency braking, radar-guided adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, blind spot warning, just to name a few.
The new Chery Tiggo 8 Pro retails for P1,645,000 and P2,400,000 for the plug-in hybrid variant. If you’re keen to see Chery’s flagship SUV in person, better head to their booth at the 2022 Manila International Auto Show, which runs from today until April 10, 2022.
