It seems that apart from the Hyundai Ioniq 5, the Kia EV6 will also make an appearance at the upcoming 8th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS). This is thanks to the South Korean automaker’s teaser through its Facebook social media page.
The Kia EV6 is the corporate cousin of the Ioniq 5, with both models riding on the same E-GMP platform that’s dedicated to Hyundai Motor Group’s electric vehicles. Like the Ioniq 5, the EV6’s skateboard architecture enables this compact crossover SUV to have a very long wheelbase that’s nearly on par with the Kia Telluride midsize SUV and is even longer than the Sorento three-row SUV.
Compared to the Ioniq 5, which went towards the retro route, the Kia EV6 is sportier and more rakish. This electric crossover SUV is the first Kia to adopt the South Korean automaker’s new “Opposites United” design philosophy, which is also the same design language that has carried over to more mainstream models like the new Sportage.
The interior of the all-new EV6 is uniquely-styled as well. Drivers are greeted by two 12-inch curved displays featuring a new Kia Connect infotainment system. Thanks to Over-The-Air (OTA) updates, Kia Connect has the ability to add new features and new charging stations in the embedded navigation throughout the car’s life.
As for powertrains, the Kia EV6 comes with battery sizes that range from 58 kWh to 77.4 kWh. Rear-wheel drive (RWD) is standard while all-wheel drive (AWD) is optional. The headline-grabbing model is the high-performance EV6 GT, which comes with AWD as standard and the long range 77.4 kWh battery pack. This model produces an impressive 577 hp and 740 Nm of torque, enabling it to sprint from 0-100 kph in just 3.5 seconds, faster than most sports cars. It also has a top speed of 260 kph and a range of 405 km.
You can view the Kia EV6 at the Kia booth at the 8th Philippine International Motor Show, which will run from September 15 to 18, 2022.
