2024 Honda Prologue Is The Brand’s First Electric SUV

The 2024 Honda Prologue is the brand's first-ever electric SUV, and it shares its electric platform with the Chevrolet Blazer EV.

Honda has recently unveiled its first electric SUV for the North American market. It’s called the 2024 Honda Prologue, and while it looks very much like a Honda vehicle, its architecture was co-developed with General Motors.

The 2024 Honda Prologue shares the same BEV3 platform and Ultium electric drivetrain from General Motors. Measuring 4,877 mm long, 1,989 mm wide, and 1,643 mm inches in height, the Prologue is 203 mm longer and 127 mm wider than the new 2023 Honda CR-V, and is in fact as large as something like a Toyota Fortuner. Oh, and its 3,094 mm wheelbase is nearly as long as a full-size BMW X7. Unsurprisingly, the wheelbase is also the same as the Chevrolet Blazer EV.

While Honda did not explicitly say that it shares the same platform as the Blazer EV, the dimensional similarities are too obvious to ignore. That said, Honda has managed to give the Prologue its own design. A slim closed-off horizontal grille with equally slim LED headlights dominate the front end. As typical of Honda, the side profile has a low beltline for better visibility. The rear end of the Prologue carries more visual interest, though. The tailgate spoiler and slim LED headlights give it an athletic stance. Honda has also ditched the “H” logo in favor “Honda” written on the black tailgate garnish that was given a “stylized typeface that captures the modern and clean design of the Prologue”.

2024 Honda Prologue Interior

Just like the exterior, the interior of the Prologue is very much Honda’s own current minimalist design. In front of the driver is an 11-inch screen, while infotainment duties are performed through a slightly larger 11.3-inch screen. Thankfully, Honda continues to utilize hard buttons for the climate controls, which is the proper way to design an ergonomic and user-friendly interior.

Powertrain details have not yet been revealed, but Honda says that all-wheel drive (AWD) is going to be available. The Blazer EV can be optioned in front-wheel drive (FWD) or rear-wheel drive (RWD), which means we have yet to see if Honda will adopt the same layout as well.

The 2024 Honda Prologue will go on sale in 2024 for the North American market. It is still unknown whether there are plans to sell the prologue elsewhere.
