2024 Chevrolet Trax Looks Unrecognizably Handsome Than Before

The second-generation 2024 Chevrolet Trax has just been unveiled, and it’s a massive improvement over the previous generation model. We’d even go as far as saying that it looks radically handsome and different that this subcompact crossover SUV even needs a new name altogether.

Whereas the previous generation Trax was affordable, it never was considered exciting or groundbreaking to begin with. That’s all changed now with the 2024 Chevrolet Trax, as its design is a significant departure from the outgoing model. The design draws heavy inspiration from the Blazer EV, with a similar wide grille with stacked LED headlights, sculpted bodywork, and a pinched rear end wherein the rising windowline meets the Trax’s tapering rear end.

Thanks to the all-new Trax being 279 mm longer, 101 mm lower, and 51 mm wider, designers have more freedom to style an ever-so-slightly enlarged canvas. Thus, the Trax avoids the frumpy looks and proportions of the outgoing model.

Inside, the 2024 Chevrolet Trax looks far more upscale and modern than the outgoing model. The use of higher quality materials certainly helps, but more importantly, there’s now a sense of style inside the Trax as opposed to the previous model which felt like it was designed to meet a certain price point. Higher variants of the Trax come with active noise cancellation for less road noise, along with an 8-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

Under the hood of the 2024 Chevrolet Trax is a 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbo gasoline engine that produces 137 hp and 219 Nm of torque, which actually produces 18 hp and 20 Nm less than the previous model’s 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine. However, the new Trax still manages to accelerate from 0-60 mph (96 kph) in 8.6 seconds, which is a whole second faster than the outgoing Trax.

Power is sent to the front wheels (no all-wheel drive will be offered) via a six-speed automatic, which, frankly will be better compared to the Trailblazer‘s CVT.

Oh, and speaking of the Trailblazer, the Trax is actually in the same segment as the former. In North America, the Trailblazer is seen as the more rugged option since AWD is available as an option, whereas the Trax has a lower base price and no AWD. This, according to Chevrolet executives, is enough of a separation for the two models to avoid stealing sales from each other.
