2023 Mazda 6 20th Anniversary Edition Debuts New Artisan Red

The 2023 Mazda 6 20th Anniversary Edition is the first Mazda to feature the brand's new Artisan Red paint.

Time flies so fast, and the Mazda 6 nameplate is now 20 years old. Though the Mazda 6 isn’t the brand’s first midsize sedan, with models such as the 626 already roaming Philippine roads in the early days, the Mazda 6 name was only introduced in 2002. To celebrate 20 years of Mazda’s midsize sedan, a 2023 Mazda 6 20th Anniversary Edition has been released in Japan and will also be sold in select markets around the world.

The Mazda 6 20th Anniversary Edition is based on the current generation Mazda 6, which originally made its debut in 2012 and then receiving a facelift in the Philippine market for the 2016 and 2019 model year. It is also the first model to wear the brand’s newest Artisan Red paint, which is a successor to Soul Red. Rhodium White, which will succeed Snowflake White Pearl, is also one of the choices for the special edition Mazda 6, and this paint debuted in the CX-60 luxury SUV.

Apart from the paint, the Mazda 6 20th Anniversary Edition sets itself apart with its commemorative 20th anniversary badges are placed on the front fenders, while the grille and 19-inch wheels are painted in high-gloss silver for a more luxurious appearance.

Inside, the Mazda 6 20th Anniversary Edition comes with a luxurious interior to match the premium exterior. Tan-colored Leganu synthetic suede and Nappa leather upholstery wrap the seats and door panels, while stitching can be seen on the dash, while the headrests feature the 20th Anniversary logo. However, unlike most of the lineup, the Mazda 6’s interior is now starting to show its age. Unlike the facelifted CX-5 and CX-9, the Mazda 6 won’t be getting the second-generation Mazda Connect infotainment anytime soon.

Depending on the market, the special edition Mazda 6 gets the familiar set of Skyactiv engines, with the gasoline range having a 165-hp 2.0-liter, a 190-hp 2.5-liter, and a 256-hp 2.5-liter turbo. The diesel engine option is only the 197-hp 2.2-liter, while a 6-speed automatic is your only transmission choice.
