Suzuki Philippines has recognized the need for offering an affordable small car with an automatic transmission by launching this, the new 2023 Suzuki S-Presso with an Auto Gear Shift (AGS). It isn’t just offering the S-Presso with a new transmission, though, because it also comes with a few new features for the first time as well.
Let’s start first with the most obvious change–that AGS. As a recap, AGS is not your traditional automatic transmission with a torque converter. Instead, it’s a five-speed automated manual transmission with a robotic clutch. Therefore, while it is an automatic in operation, you somehow need to predict when to lift off the throttle when it changes gears in order for the shifting to be smooth. Of course, the jerkiness is cured when you put the car in manual mode and then drive it like a traditional manual, but without a clutch pedal.
Apart from the new AGS, the engine under the S-Presso’s hood is also new. It’s a 1.0-liter gasoline engine that’s been inherited from the Celerio, which means it now has the K10C engine code. This engine comes with improved fuel efficiency mainly thanks to the new engine start/stop system. This engine is also likewise offered in the 2023 model year S-Presso with a five-speed manual transmission.
The new 2023 Suzuki Celerio doesn’t just benefit from mechanical updates. It also comes with new body-colored bumpers, updated wheels, and outside locking for the trunk. As for interior features, there’s a new infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with a few new safety features with electronic stability control being its main highlight.
If you want to own one of the most affordable new cars in the Philippines, the 2023 Suzuki S-Presso with AGS can be yours for P660,000. The manual-equipped model is still being sold at a price of P620,000.
