With standard Honda Sensing, the 2024 Honda City is at the cutting edge of safety tech in the subcompact sedan segment.

The 2024 H0nda City has finally arrived in the Philippines, launching alongside the equally-new Brio small hatchback. Armed with improved looks, more tech features, and cutting-edge advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) with its standard Honda Sensing, the City aims to set the benchmark in the subcompact sedan segment.

Yes, with the new City, the main highlight is its Honda Sensing suite of ADAS, which is offered as standard on all variants. This means that on top of the usual suite of airbags, hill start assist, and electronic stability control, the City also benefits from Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), Lead Car Departure Notification System (LCDN), Road Departure Mitigation System with Lane Departure Warning (RDM with LDW), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), and Auto-High Beam (AHB). However, its ACC doesn’t have the Low-Speed Follow (LSF) feature that lets it work in stop-and-go traffic since the City is missing the pre-requisite electronic parking brake for this feature to work.

Honda Sensing is the main headline update for the new City because, in terms of aesthetics, the changes are minor. From the outside, the 2024 Honda City gets an updated front grille with a slimmer upper trim (in chrome or gloss black for the RS), a slightly revised front bumper with new foglight housings, and new rear bumpers with an integrated faux rear diffuser effect. LED daytime running lights and LED taillights are standard across all variants, while halogen foglights and 16-inch wheels are offered in the 1.5 V. The range-topping RS sets itself apart with its sportier front and rear bumper, mesh grille, and new 16-inch alloy wheels.

Another highlight of the new City is a new entry-level variant called the 1.5 E. This variant, however, only gets steel wheels with hubcaps, while its interior only gets a 2DIN radio with Bluetooth, a single USB charging port, push-button start, and a new 4.2-inch color multi-information display that’s fitted to all variants. The 1.5 S adds a new 8-inch touchscreen infotainment with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the mid-spec 1.5 V adds automatic climate control, a soft-touch padded dashboard, a reverse camera, and rear aircon vents. Lastly, the range-topping 1.5 RS gets you leather upholstery, red interior trims, two 12V outlets for the rear, and an 8-speaker sound system, just to name a few.

Mechanically, the new City remains unchanged. It still uses the tried-and-tested 1.5-liter DOHC i-VTEC gasoline engine that produces 121 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque, with power sent to the front wheels via a CVT.

The 2024 Honda City is now available in dealers nationwide with the following prices:

  • 1.5 E: P973,000
  • 1.5 S: P998,000
  • 1.5 V: P1,073,000
  • 1.5 RS: P1,128,000
