Yes, it’s now official. Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) is launching the next-generation 2024 Honda CR-V this September 13, and they’ve also revealed a few preliminary specs as well as pricing for all the variants that will be sold.
The main headline for the next-generation CR-V’s debut in the Philippines is the availability of the e:HEV hybrid variant for the first time. This marks the return of Honda’s hybrid models since the discontinuation of the Legend and CR-Z and it finally brings the Japanese automaker back into the electrification race in the Philippines once again.
The said e:HEV variant will be sold as the range-topping RS e:HEV. If the Thai-spec CR-V will be our basis since that’s where HCPI sources its vehicles, then we can expect that this variant will come with sporty exterior styling courtesy of a mesh grille (all variants), RS emblems, sporty 19-inch alloy wheels, and body-colored body cladding as opposed to the black ones in the lower two variants, namely V Turbo and VX Turbo. Expect the usual full set of LED exterior lighting as well.
As for the interior, the Thai-spec CR-V e:HEV RS comes fully loaded with stuff such as power-adjustable front seats, a premium Bose sound system, a 10.2-inch fully-digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, a hands-free powered tailgate, leather upholstery, and even a head-up display that’s projected to the windshield. Of course, expect the lower variants to come with less features.
What HCPI has confirmed is that the CR-V will be the first model in the Philippines to be equipped with the Honda Connect telematics system. Think of it like FordPass, which allows you to control via a smartphone app various vehicle functions such as the engine, windows, air conditioning, and door locks, as well as check the vehicle’s vital signs and current location.
Also confirmed as standard is the Honda Sensing suite of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), which includes the usual features such as:
- Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)
- Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS)
- Lead Car Departure Notification System (LCDN)
- Road Departure Mitigation System with Lane Departure Warning (RDM with LDW)
- Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
- Auto-High Beam (AHB)
What the list of variants also confirms are the engine choices. Gone is the diesel and in favor is a 1.5-liter VTEC Turbo gasoline engine as the base engine option. This produces 187 horsepower and 240 Nm of torque that’s sent to the front or all four wheels via a CVT.
The powertrain you’re probably most keen to find out is the e:HEV hybrid drivetrain, which combines a 2.0-liter naturally-aspirated four-cylinder with an electric motor. The hybrid drivetrain has an impressive total system output of 201 horsepower and 335 Nm of torque, and this is sent to the front wheels via an e-CVT.
Unfortunately, with all of these upgrades, the next-generation 2024 Honda CR-V will also have a significantly higher base price than before. Here are the prices of the next-generation CR-V, and if you reserve yours from today until September 30,, you won’t have to pay any reservation fee.
- V Turbo: P2,150,000
- VX Turbo AWD: P2,300,000
- 2.0 RS e:HEV: P2,600,000
