Toyota Motor Philippines has chosen the most recent second leg of the Toyota Gazoo Racing Vios Cup as a venue to finally unveil the new 2024 Toyota Hilux GR-S. Unlike the previous Hilux GR-S, this one is now aimed to be a rival to the Ranger Raptor with its significantly upgraded design, enhanced chassis, as well as more power.
For starters, this is the same 2024 Toyota Hilux GR-S that initially debuted in Australia earlier this year. The main highlight is its engine, which now produces a Range Raptor-beating 224 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque from a modified 2.8-liter turbo diesel. The 6-speed automatic has also been modified to handle that extra power and torque.
Complementing the added power are chassis enhancements that improve the Hilux GR-S’s capabilities. The 135 mm wider front track and 155 mm wider rear tracks help give the new Hilux GR-S not just a wider stance, but also better handling. The front and rear leaf spring suspension has also been revised and is now fitted with large-diameter KYB monotube shocks. Topping the exterior changes off is a new grille with the TOYOTA script written as opposed to the traditional emblem, along with wider fenders to accommodate the new 17-inch wheels.
The interior of the 2024 Toyota Hilux GR-S has also been modified to provide a racier feel. This begins with the sportier leather-wrapped steering with paddle shifters and a center stripe, while the seats are upholstered in leather and suede. Red seatbelts and a host of GR logos are placed around the cabin, while a new “Technical Mesh” design for the interior trims further improves the aesthetics of the interior.
The new Hilux GR-S is now available for reservations across all dealers nationwide, with prices starting at P2,166,000.
