As the 2024 Volkswagen Tharu is set to finally debut on Friday, September 29, at Karrera Café in Filinvest City, Alabang, Muntinlupa City, the German automaker is now ramping up its marketing and teaser campaign to further boost the appeal of the latest compact crossover SUV on the block.
The test drive weekend will be the Filipino motoring public’s first chance to get to know what the Volkswagen Tharu is all about, which will be at the same venue on Saturday and Sunday, September 30 and October 1.
As initially revealed, the 2024 Volkswagen Tharu will be available in two variants—the SE (shown in Petroleum Blue) and SEL (shown in Polytech Blue). Volkswagen Philippines has also revealed some of its features. These include matrix LED headlights with an Adaptive Front Lighting System (AFS), a panoramic sunroof, a hands-free powered tailgate, and Intelligent Park Assist, just to name a few. Both variants also come with 18-inch wheels, but the SEL comes with sportier ones that feature red highlights. The SEL models come with J-shaped LED daytime running lights as opposed to the straight ones in the SE.
Volkswagen has also officially confirmed that the Tharu that will be offered in the Philippines is the 300 TSI, which means that it will come with a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that produces 160 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. This drives the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.
Volkswagen Philippines has also revealed indicative pricing for the Tharu, which is around P1.8 million for the base SE and P1.95 million for the range-topping SEL. Reserve your Tharu now at any Volkswagen dealership nationwide:
