BYD Dolphin EV Now Cheaper Than Ever In PH, Starts At Just P1.398M

The 2024 BYD Dolphin comes with a few updates, as well as a significantly lower entry price of under P1.4 million.

AC Motors, the newly-appointed distributor of BYD in the Philippines, has just lowered the prices of the Dolphin electric hatchback. With its new pricing structure, the 2024 BYD Dolphin is one of the cheapest electric vehicles (EVs) you can buy in the market right now.

Unless your eyes weren’t drawn to the headline of this article, we’ll remind you that the 2024 BYD Dolphin now costs just P1,398,000 from its former starting price of P1,688,000. That’s a P290,000 price cut that makes the Dolphin an even more attractive option than ever. Sized similarly to a Toyota Yaris or a City hatch, this makes the Dolphin nearly at price parity with an equivalent internal combustion engine (ICE) car for the first time.

But what do you get for that price tag? Well, there are no compromises when it comes to features or performance, actually. utilizing BYD’s e-Platform 3.0, the dolphin’s EV architecture enables it to have features such as vehicle-to-load (V2L), battery cooling and heating, and new for the 2024 model year is the switch from the previous China-exclusive GB/T charging standard to the more commonly-used CCS2/Type 2. In addition, some of its exterior features include aerodynamic 16-inch wheels, LED headlights and full-width LED taillights, and smart entry with push-button start, just to name a few.

Inside the 2024 BYD Dolphin, you get a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a rotating 12.8-inch Android-based infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, leather upholstery, and a six-speaker sound system, among other features. It’s also worth noting that the Dolphin’s platform never took into account the accommodation of an ICE powertrain, which means that the Dolphin doesn’t suffer from packaging constraints since there is no need for an exhaust or driveshaft tunnel. As a result, the Dolphin offers one of the most spacious interiors in the segment.

Propelling the 2024 BYD Dolphin is a front-mounted electric motor with 93 horsepower and 180 Nm of torque. With a 44.9 kWh BYD Blade lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery that’s known for its affordability and outstanding durability, the Dolphin can travel up to 405 km based on NEDC testing. The Dolphin can charge up in around 7-8 hours from 0-100 percent in AC of up to 6.6 kW, while 60 kW DC allows for a 30-80 percent charge in 30 minutes.

With these prices, will you finally consider the BYD Dolphin instead of its equivalent ICE small hatchback counterparts?
