Chery Auto Philippines is fully charged to go green at the Philippine Electric Vehicle Summit 2023 happening from October 19-21, 2023 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City. Two full electric vehicles (EV) and a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) are set to be previewed during the event.
During its brand relaunch last July 2023, Chery Auto Philippines’ Managing Director Froilan Dytianquin underscored Chery’s new direction towards electrification.
“Chery Auto Philippines wants to be at the forefront of change promoting a new era of green mobility. This path we are heading to aligns with Chery’s global advocacy to promote green mobility through technological innovation,” Dytianquin said.
“Essentially, Chery’s current model lineup will be further complemented with completely new energy derivatives such as hybrids, PHEVs, and new full electric vehicle models,” Dytianquin added.
The first of those is the Chery eQ1. The mini EV has a range of 280 kilometers and it can supposedly fit four adults inside the vehicle. This vehicle also comes with features that range from a 10-inch touch screen, a wireless charging pad, digital instrumentation, just to name a few.
Up next is the eQ7. It is an electric compact crossover with a sleek design and plenty of interior features such as two 12.3-inch displays, and surprisingly a lack of physical buttons for the vehicle’s controls. It has a rear-mounted electric motor that delivers 210 horsepower and 285 Nm of torque, while its 67.12 kWh battery is good for 500 km of range.
Lastly, there’s also the new Tiggo 7 Pro e+. The PHEV version of the Tiggo 7 Pro gets a 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbo gasoline engine and an electric motor that has a total system output of 320 horsepower. If that figure sounds familiar to you, that’s because it uses the same PHEV drivetrain as the Tiggo 8 Pro e+. Therefore, expect a pure electric range of around 90 kilometers as well.
Aside from strengthening and localizing EV and battery supply chains, the three-day exhibition will showcase foreign and local players exhibiting the latest EV models, battery and charging technologies, and other innovative products and solutions.
During the event, visitors can test drive other Chery vehicles like the Tiggo 7 Pro Hybrid and the Tiggo 8 Pro e+ PHEV.
