BMW M’s first foray into the electric vehicle (EV) segment comes in the form of the 2024 BMW i4 M50. Though not a full-fledged M car, the i4 M50 is an M Performance version of the i4. The i4 M50 is also the high-performance follow-up to the recently-launched i4 eDrive35, signaling BMW M’s intent to make shockwaves (pun intended) in the high-performance four-door passenger car segment.
Separating the 2024 BMW i4 M50 from the standard i4 is its standard M Sport exterior look. This is complemented by BMW’s enlarged kidney grille which is then flanked by a pair of LED headlights. Instead of utilizing blue highlights like in the standard BMW i4, the i4 M50 features gloss black exterior accents. Also fitted to the i4 M50 are 19-inch M Sport wheels with a staggered setup (wider wheels at the rear), along with M Sport brakes with blue brake calipers.
Moving inside the i4 M50, and most of what you’ll see in the i4 eDrive35 carries over to this model. This includes the two digital screens housed in a single curved glass piece and is powered by the latest iDrive 8.5 operating system. There are also M Sport seats, Black Vernasca Leather upholstery, M Anthracite Rhombicle aluminum trims, and an M Sport steering. This variant also benefits from a Harman Kardon sound system, along with a specific tuning of the Hans Zimmer-composed BMW IconicSounds electric car tones unique to the i4 M50.
Because this is fitted with iDrive 8.5, the i4 M50 also comes with BMW ConnectedDrive telematics services, which lets you monitor various vehicle parameters as well as charging status through your smartphone.
Finally, the meat of the 2024 BMW i4 M50 is its dual electric motor all-wheel drive (AWD) setup which gives it a combined output of 544 horsepower and 795 Nm of torque. This is enough for a 0-100 kph time of just 3.9 seconds. Because this is an M Performance car, the i4 M50 also comes with unique chassis upgrades in order for the i4 to be able to handle all that power.
With an 83.9 kWh (gross) lithium-ion battery, the i4 M50 has a WLTP-rated range of 510 kilometers, while in terms of charging, it can accept a maximum of 11 kW in AC, while DC fast charging capabilities for the i4 M50 are up to 205 kW. The former is good enough for a 0-100% charge in 8.25 hours while using the full 205 kW in DC fast charging stations is enough for a 10-80% charge in 31 minutes.
The 2024 BMW i4 M50 is now in BMW i-certified and RSA Motors dealerships for P5,990,000.
