Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has announced that it will be launching the new line of its all-time best-selling hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), the 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross on Friday, April 12.
First introduced in 2020 as the first hybrid electric crossover, the Corolla Cross has become a fan favorite for its stylish exterior, spacious interior, powerful performance, and fuel efficiency as a mainstream hybrid car. The new 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross variants will be unveiled as an all-hybrid lineup.
The leading mobility company invites the public to its public launch this weekend, to be started with a live unveiling at SM Aura in Taguig City at 11 AM. The program will also be live-streamed on the Toyota Motor Philippines Facebook page at 11 AM.
The new Corolla Cross will be displayed at the SM Aura exhibit until Sunday, April 14. Customers nationwide may also check the new Corolla Cross in all Toyota dealerships across the country. Reservations and retail sales will start on April 12.
As to what to expect in the new Corolla Cross, well, we’ve seen what it looks like based on what was unveiled in Thailand last month. The headline change is its exterior styling, with the front end now gaining a frameless grille design. You can also expect new LED headlights with sequential LED turn signals and a restyled front bumper to match. There could even be a set of new set of 18-inch alloy wheels as seen in the Thai-spec model, though the exterior styling of the GR Sport model remains largely unchanged.
As for the interior, the overall design has remained largely unchanged. New for the Thai-spec 2024 model is a 10.1-inch infotainment system on a higher variant. There’s also a new panoramic sunroof and a hands-free powered tailgate. Opting for the higher trims will now give you a bigger 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster. Finally (at least in Thailand), the foot-operated parking brake has been ditched in favor of an electronic parking brake.
Engines, however, remain unchanged for the 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross. What you still get is either a 1.8-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine that’s good for 140 horsepower and 177 Nm of torque or a 1.8-liter fourth-generation Toyota Hybrid System that still produces a total system output of 120 horsepower. Both are front-wheel drive (FWD) and come with a CVT (e-CVT for the hybrid).
