When the current generation BMW X1 made its global debut a couple of years earlier, it came with an electric iX1 variant for the first time. Now in 2024, the electric compact luxury crossover SUV has finally arrived in the Philippines. This is the 2024 BMW iX1 in eDrive20 form, which retails for P3,990,000.
That’s a mere P100,000 difference from the diesel-fed X1, which makes this iX1 an interesting proposition. Since this is an eDrive20, the iX1 on sale in the Philippines is the model with the single motor front-wheel drive (FWD) layout that produces 204 horsepower and 247 Nm of torque. That’s good enough for a 0-100 kph time of 8.6 seconds, and with its 64.7 kWh lithium-ion battery, it has a maximum range of 475 km based on the WLTP testing cycle.
As for charging, the iX1 can accept up to 11 kW in AC, which is good enough for a zero to 100 percent charge in 6.5 hours, while DC fast charging is up to 130 kW (mostly sustained at 94 kW) which enables a 10 to 80 percent charge in just 29 minutes.
Now, when it comes to the exterior, the 2024 BMW iX1 in the Philippines is the xLine variant, which means it gets satin silver exterior trims, adaptive matrix LED headlights, and 18-inch aerodynamic wheels, to name a few. Unsurprisingly, the overall design is similar to the standard X1, albeit with an enclosed grille (this is an EV, after all), and slight revisions to the front and rear bumpers.
Moving inside the 2024 BMW iX1, the interior design is largely similar to the standard X1, such as the iDrive 9 dual curved displays for the infotainment, the floating center console, and the copious amount of ambient LED lighting. There’s extended leather upholstery on the dash and door panels, while the seat material is Veganza vegan leather upholstery with perforations. Like every new BMW for 2024, the iX1 comes with the BMW ConnectedDrive telematics services, while other interior features include a Harman Kardon sound system, and the Hans Zimmer-composed IconicSounds.
Lastly, the BMW iX1 also comes with the Driving Assistant Plus, which is an added suite of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) on top of the standard automatic emergency braking and lane departure warning. Driving Assistant Plus adds adaptive cruise control functionality with lane centering capabilities.
The 2024 BMW iX1 is now available for viewing in Autoallee BMW, RSA Motors Greenhills, and RSA Motors Libis, the three BMW i EV dealers in the Philippines.
