Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has been relatively silent for most of the year. With the exception of numerous events such as the Vios Cup, as well as the launch of the facelifted Corolla Cross Hybrid, the country’s largest automaker has remained mostly quiet. Well, it seems that most of the activity will be concentrated at the upcoming 2024 Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), in which Toyota is set to reveal two new models.

Based on the teaser they posted on Facebook, two new vehicles are covered. However, we can start making our guesses based on the LED daytime running light pattern that’s being cast through the veil.

The first vehicle behind the Yaris Cross Hybrid seems to be the new generation Toyota Vios, which has been notably absent in the local lineup for about two years since its global debut. We can see the slim LED daytime running lights peaking through the veil, which matches that of the popular subcompact sedan.
The new Vios now rides on the Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) that’s shared with the Raize, Avanza, Veloz, and Yaris Cross. This is perhaps one of the complications as to why the Santa Rosa, Laguna manufacturing plant hasn’t yet started producing the new generation Vios, but if our prediction is right, then it means that the Santa Rosa manufacturing plant can now produce DNGA-based vehicles as well.

On the other hand, the next car in the foreground seems to be the Toyota Camry, though based on the LED daytime running light pattern, this is the design of the outgoing model. It may be just a placeholder, though, since the new generation 2025 Toyota Camry has already arrived in Singapore, thus making its ASEAN debut in that market. The Philippines gets its Camry from Thailand, and production or even its launch has yet to commence there.
Then again, we might be speculating and overthinking too much on these teasers, and perhaps these are really just placeholders for the two cars that TMP is set to unveil at the upcoming 2024 PIMS. Either way, this is just one of the reasons why you should visit PIMS, as more brands are expected to launch new models at the show, which runs from October 24 to 27, 2024.
