2025 Mini Cooper Now In PH In Gas And Electric, Priced From P3.3 Million

The 2025 Mini Cooper model range is now in the Philippines, and it's now available in a fully electric verison for the first time.

The 2025 Mini Cooper lineup has arrived in the Philippines, completely new from the ground up, sporting a new design that brings the Mini brand into a new era. This is also perhaps the most significant generational change for the Mini Cooper, because electrification in this case plays a much bigger role than ever before.

Evolving An Icon

But first, let’s talk about their designs. the new 2025 Mini Cooper dons the brand’s Charismatic Simplicity design language, which is characterized by a simpler look yet one that’s more modern and fresher to look at. Traditional design cues such as the round LED headlights are preserved, but the grille is now color-matched to the body. The side profile has a cleaner, more monolithic look, while the rear fascia comes with vertical LED taillights with a similar design pattern as the Union Jack flag of the UK.

However, while the two vehicles look similar, there are differences from their design that’s evidenced by the different platforms. The Cooper SE is slightly shorter and uses the J01 platform that was co-developed with GWM, while the Cooper S evolves the previous generation model’s BMW Group UKL1 platform. The evolutionary platform is also seen from the door handles, in which the Cooper S has body cladding on the wheel arches, while the SE has no body cladding and comes with flushed door handles.

Like the exterior, the interior is very minimalistic, and just as the two vehicles share different platforms, the interior also has minor differences. What’s common on both versions is that the visual clutter has been reduced to a minimum, with only the circular 9.5-inch Mini Operating System 9 and the array of toggle-based controls being the most prominent eye-catchers. Speaking of the screen, the operating system is based on the Android Open Source Project, and it comes with the usual wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with a voice assistant called the Mini Intelligent Personal Assistant.

The gear selection has been moved beside the toggle switches, which frees up the center console for more storage as well as a wireless charger. Elsewhere, the interior is made of premium materials, and in the name of sustainability, the dash and top of the door panels are made out of recycled polyester. Even the seats have no animal skin as this is made out of “Vescin”, a synthetic leather material.

Care For Gas Or Electric?

Starting off with the Cooper S, which retails for P3,699,000, this model gets a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder that produces 204 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque, which drives the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT). This is good enough for a 0-100 kph time of 6.6 seconds.

On the other hand, the electric Cooper SE, which retails for P3,300,000, uses a front-wheel driven electric motor that produces more powerful numbers as the Cooper S: 215 horses and 330 Nm of torque. However, batteries weigh more, and so its 0-100 kph time is 6.7 seconds, very similar to the Cooper S. With a 54.2 kWh battery, it has a WLTP-rated range of 377-401 km.

The two 2025 Mini Cooper models are now available across all of the brand’s three dealerships, which are located in Bonifacio Global City, Pampanga, and Cebu.
