Say hello to the 2025 Suzuki e Vitara, the brand’s first foray into the electric vehicle (EV) segment. Despite the name, it shares nothing in common with the gas-powered Vitara that’s already nearly a decade old except the name. That’s because the new e Vitara is a ground-up EV that’s built on a new EV-specific platform, and is set to go on sale worldwide.

The design of the Suzuki e Vitara is based on the eVX Concept that was revealed at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show. Thus, the new e Vitara looks very modern and very sleek. Designed with the theme of “High-Tech & Adventure,” the e Vitara’s front end features a grille-less design that’s now common in today’s EVs, and a black trim piece joins the LED headlights. There are also copious amounts of chunky black plastic cladding and large-diameter wheels that range from 18 to 19 inches (as seen in this specification). At the sides, the e Vitara has a sculpted profile, with blistered wheel arches and a black contrasting roof, while the rear end as with many cars these days, comes with full-width LED taillights.

As for the interior, Suzuki’s designers took every step to improve the interior quality and ambiance of the e Vitara over its gas-powered sibling. as is with many vehicles these days, the e Vitara has two large screens, a digital driver’s display as well as as the main infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Despite the increased quality and premium feel, the interior is still robust and durable.

Dimensionally, the e Vitara is 4,275 mm long, 1,800 mm wide, and 1,635 mm tall, with a long 2,700 mm wheelbase that’s enabled by the dedicated EV platform called HEARTECT-e. That dedicated EV platform allows for two lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery sizes, measuring 49 kWh and 61 kWh. With the base 49 kWh LFP battery, you get a front-wheel drive (FWD) motor that produces 142 hp and 190 Nm of torque, while the larger 61 kWh battery comes in either a higher-output FWD version with 172 horses, or a dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) version that has a total output of 181 horses and 300 Nm of torque.
Unfortunately, range has yet to be determined at the moment, as well as charging speeds. What we know at the moment is that it will be manufactured at Suzuki’s Gurajat plant in India in spring 2025. It will be a global car, wherein it will be sold initially in Europe, India, and Japan.
