Earlier this year, Toyota Motor Philippines finally brought in the updated 2025 GR Supra. The main highlight of that update is its upgraded 3.0-liter B58 turbocharged BMW straight-six, which now pumps out 382 horsepower versus the 332 horses it used to make. Torque remains unchanged at 500 Nm, but what also remained unchanged was the transmission choice. The manual GR Supra has always remained MIA.

You see, the GR Supra always came with a ZF eight-speed automatic, but at some point in its production life, the GR Supra gained a Toyota-developed six-speed manual, complete with rev-matching capabilities. Finally, however, starting today, you can now get the manual GR Supra in the Philippines.

That Toyota-developed six-speed manual transmission is a derivative of Toyota’s Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT), hence the automatic rev-matching. This can, of course, be turned off. The engineering team also removed the transmission’s acoustic package for lighter weight, which on the downside will introduce more noise to the cabin. This became an opportunity for Toyota to tune the interior acoustics in a way that the noises from both the engine and transmission are harmonized to create an exhilarating mechanical sound.

The transmission also comes with a shortened final drive ratio for better launches and low in-gear acceleration. It also comes with software that optimizes the clutch engagement during upshifts, but if you prefer a more straightforward mechanical feel, this can be turned off. The traction and stability control systems have also been recalibrated for the manual transmission. Toyota even tuned the Track mode for easier drifting, while a new Hairpin+ function is basically a more aggressive torque vectoring by braking feature that allows a greater difference in wheel rotation speed on the opposite sides of the wheel when cornering.
Outside the new six-speed manual, there are other upgrades that the GR Supra received, and this is already implemented in the new 2025 model year GR Supra. These include modified stabilizer bushings for improved steering response, revised electric power steering, and an improved Adaptive Variable Suspension that provides better ride and handling.

As for aesthetic changes, the biggest update introduced earlier this year is the addition of 19-inch forged gunmetal wheels, while Volcanic Ash Gray Metallic, Plasma Orange, and Dawn Blue Metallic are your new color choices. The interior likewise remains largely unchanged, except for the incrementally improved JBL sound system.
Pricing for the manual GR Supra is the same as the automatic version, which retails for P5,552,000. This, however, is for the base Prominence Red color choice. Every other color option commands a price premium ranging from P60,000 to a full P100,000.
