The Honda Prelude has slowly turned from a prototype back in the 2023 Japan Mobility Show and into a thinly-veiled concept that’s pretty much representative of the production model. The Prelude concept is also representative of how the production model’s exterior design will look like, but the interior has always remained a mystery–until now.

The 2026 Honda Prelude, as it’s now known to come out in the following model year in global markets, is going to get an interior that looks familiar whilst still remaining stylish. The reason why it looks so familiar is because the Prelude is based on the same platform as the current Civic, albeit with additional style and a more premium feel. Familiar Civic components include the 10.2-inch fully digital gauges, the 9-inch infotainment with Google Built-In, the array of physical controls, and even the sporty steering wheel.

What sets the Prelude apart from the Civic is its new dash design, which ditches the horizontal full-width air vent strip in favor of a large patch of what looks like leather surfacing. There’s also a two-tone interior color scheme, which in this case is in white and dark blue. Separating the driver and front passenger is a rising center console, in which the traditional gear lever has been ditched in favor of a button shifter, containing the S+ Shift button.

As a recap, S+ Shift is basically Honda’s take on a simulated manual through the paddle shifters, complete with gear shift shocks and augmented engine sounds from its improved and more powerful 2.0-liter e:HEV hybrid system. Actually, at this point, these are the only details left missing from the new Prelude.

What’s also missing, since this is an e:HEV, is a manual transmission. Therefore, apart from the S+ Shift, the more powerful next-generation e:HEV hybrid drivetrain, and of course, its design, it raises the question as to whether there’s enough distinction between the Prelude and the Civic.
Well, that can only be answered when the vehicle has been fully revealed, presumably at the upcoming 2025 Japan Mobility Show later this year with the Prelude’s pace of development. For now, feast your eyes on the interior of the upcoming 2026 Honda Prelude.
