The new, fourth-generation 2025 BMW X3 has finally arrived in the Philippines. Reimagined from the ground up to be a plug-in hybrid luxury crossover SUV, the new X3 expands BMW Philippines’ ever-growing lineup of electrified models, as they provide various sustainable options in the luxury segment to suit a wide variety of needs and wants.

As it enters a new generation, the X3 gets a complete overhaul. The front end comes with a larger kidney grille, which features the IconicGlow accent lighting. This grille also contains a first for a BMW crossover SUV–a pattern that combines both vertical and diagonal bars, while the LED headlights also feature a completely new LED daytime running light pattern consisting of two L-shaped elements.
The side profile also has a cleaner look with flushed door handles, while the rear fascia consists of a cleaner tailgate, which has been achieved by relocating the license plate’s positioning. Here in the Philippines, the only variant on sale for now will be this fully loaded X3 30e M Sport. As such, the exterior design has been augmented by more aggressive front and rear bumpers and more body-colored exterior elements. Topping it all off are snazzy 20-inch multi-spoke wheels with a two-tone finish.

Like the exterior, the interior of the 2025 BMW X3 also gets a radical redesign. The two curved screens are running the latest iDrive 9 infotainment system, and its major highlight is the digital gauge’s ability to feature maps from Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. There’s also the Interaction Bar that debuted in the 7 Series, which, as a recap, the Interaction Bar is where most of the vehicle’s secondary controls are located. The ambient light accompanying the Interaction Bar reacts to every setting or function you activate.

The new X3 continues BMW’s quest for increased digitalization through the standard BMW ConnectedDrive and myBMW smartphone app-based telematics. For the first time in a BMW in the Philippines, the X3 also an Interior Camera that can be used for selfies, or for interior surveillance through the myBMW app. Furthermore, the car’s 360-degree camera system can also be used for remote surveillance via the myBMW app. Sounds are then played through the car’s Harman Kardon sound system, which helps set the mood while you drive.
Finally, as expected in a BMW, the interior is well-built and is finished with premium materials. In the case of this 30e M Sport, it gets Veganza vegan-friendly leather on the seats, doors, and dash. This is accented with the BMW M tri-color stitching and sporty suede inserts. Furthermore, rear-seat passengers benefit from their third-zone climate control, along with their own USB-C fast charging ports and their rear sunshades.
As one of the brand’s frontrunners in the push towards electrification, the 2025 BMW X3 30e M Sport packs a 2.0-liter B48 turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine, an electric motor, and an eight-speed automatic. This results in a strong 299 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque, good enough for a 0-100 kph time of just 6.2 seconds.
Now, thanks to its 19.2 kWh lithium-ion battery, the X3 30e is able to do up to 90 kilometers of pure electric range, and surprisingly, for a plug-in hybrid, the battery accepts a maximum charge rate of 11 kW. With this output, it’s able to top up from 0-100 percent in only 2 hours and 15 minutes.
Lastly, the 2025 BMW X3 30e M Sport has a full suite of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). Apart from the usual automatic emergency braking, blind spot warning, and rear cross traffic alert, the new X3 is also equipped with the Driving Assistant Plus. This adds Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function, Speed Limit Information, Speed Limit Assistant, Lane Keep Assistant, and Steering Assistant. All of these are also augmented by the Augmented View. This feature displays a camera feed in the gauge cluster, and it adds visual overlays for the navigation, lane detection, and vehicle detection.
Despite featuring a very radical redesign, the new 2025 BMW X3 30e retails for nearly the same as the previous generation xDrive20d M Sport. Priced at P4,790,000, the new X3 plug-in hybrid offers a lot of value in the luxury segment. With the new X3 plug-in hybrid, BMW is setting a new standard in terms of features, design, and performance, in the compact luxury SUV segment.
