Can you guess what’s Land Rover’s most popular model worldwide? If you said Defender, then you’re absolutely right. Combined with the Range Rover nameplate, the two models account for 70 percent of Land Rover’s total sales in 2024. Building on that success is a new, flagship variant that goes all-out in capability and performance. Say hello to the 2025 Land Rover Defender OCTA.

The Defender OCTA features the same potent BMW-sourced S68 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 in the Range Rover Sport SV Edition 2. This engine produces 626 horsepower and 750 Nm of torque, sending power through a permanent four-wheel drive (4WD) system via an eight-speed automatic. With this amount of power, the Defender OCTA can sprint from 0-100 kph in just four seconds flat.

As you’ll notice from its wide fender flares, they are not just for show. Like the Range Rover Sport SV Edition 2, the Defender OCTA adopts the same 6D Dynamics air suspension, which contains a total of six shocks. Four of those shocks are diagonally oriented, but if the Range Rover Sport SV Edition is biased for sporty driving, the Defender OCTA’s suspension is catered towards Dakar-style rally driving and off-road trails.

Complementing the improved suspension and chassis enhancements is a raised ride height. The version seen here is fitted with 22-inch wheels wrapped in all-season tires, but for even more hardcore off-roading, there’s also the option for 20-inch forged wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires. Combined with the higher ride height, the Defender OCTA can go through rivers and any body of water (as long as it isn’t saltwater) at up to a meter deep.

As for the interior, you have a choice of Ultrafabric or semi-aniline leather options. In the model on display here, it is fitted with the Burnt Sienna semi-aniline leather with Kvadrat textile trim. Land Rover has also fitted the Defender OCTA with new sports seats along with a Meridian surround sound system that includes the Body and Soul seats (BASS) found in the Range Rover Sport SV Edition 2. Together, the BASS seats and Meridian surround sound system work to give you an acoustic experience that literally lets you feel the music, particularly heavy bass notes. Of course, this is all controlled through the 11.4-inch Pivi Pro infotainment system.

So, how much does all of this exclusivity and capability cost? The 2025 Land Rover Defender OCTA starts at P24,590,000, and can go as much as P26,590,000 for a fully-loaded Edition One variant. Only five units are supposedly allocated for the Philippine market, and one of those already has an owner. If you’re in the market for the most capable and faster Defender ever, then you’d better act fast.
