Honda is set to join the likes of Toyota and Mazda in producing parts for its iconic sports cars. In the case of Toyota, it was the AE86, the A80 and A70 Supra, and various Land Cruiser generations. For Mazda, the first-generation MX-5 and the second and third generations of the RX-7 received the treatment. For Honda, the first-generation Honda NSX will be the first model to benefit from this restoration program.

Details are scarce at the moment, but translated from Honda’s Japanese press release, Honda says that a restoration service using these genuine parts will also be initiated in Japan. Though the restoration service seems to be limited to Japan only, the good news is that these genuine Honda NSX parts will be supplied globally.
Honda prides itself on the fact that the Japanese automaker has continued to supply genuine repair parts for vehicles after production has ended for a certain period. But, as expected, it gets increasingly difficult to supply parts to older vehicles, especially as their numbers dwindle, whilst balancing the production of new cars.

Honda says that for parts that can no longer be produced and supplied, the Japanese automaker is considering the production of alternative parts with the cooperation of various business partners. In addition, Honda is also considering technologies such as remanufacturing and 3D printing to make it easier for them to produce parts for the NSX once again.
Details about which parts and how they can be sourced will be officially announced in fall 2025, but here’s the good news. If the program succeeds, Honda will expand the restoration program beyond the NSX and will include more iconic sports cars in the future. Perhaps the Honda Prelude will be included? We know someone who’s going to be happy about this.
