Mitsubishi Motors Corporation made a momentous mark in the Philippine automotive industry last year when it chose the Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) for the global launch of the DST Concept. However, based on patent filings at Indonesia’s Intellectual Property Database (Pangkalan Data Kekayaan Intelektual, PDKI), Mitsubishi’s DST Concept could be called the “Destinator” when it is revealed in production form soon.
How soon? Well, Mitsubishi Motors Indonesia is choosing the upcoming 2025 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) for the global reveal of the Mitsubishi Destinator. Bearing a resemblance to the Xforce, the Destinator may likely be a seven-seater version of the Xforce.
There is strong evidence suggesting that Mitsubishi will indeed use the Destinator name. For instance, Mitsubishi Motors Indonesia’s teaser says, “Ready To Uncover Your Next Destination?”. If these predictions and rumors fall into place, then the Mitsubishi Destinator will most likely be offered with two engine choices, both shared across the Xpander and Xforce models.
One of those will be the familiar 1.5-liter four-cylinder that produces 103 horsepower and 141 Nm of torque that’s sent to the front wheels via a CVT. The other one will most likely be a hybrid system that already debuted in both the Xpander HEV and Xforce HEV. In this electrified powertrain dubbed “e:Motion”, its total system output is a stronger 116 horsepower and 225 Nm of torque, sending power to the front wheels.
With the Mitsubishi Destinator right around the corner, and considering how important the Philippine market is for Mitsubishi Motors, it won’t be long before the Japanese automaker eventually brings this into our market. Perhaps an early 2026 launch?
