Geely EX5 Models In PH To Receive Major Over-The-Air Update

At this point, you may have heard of the term “software-defined vehicle” or SDV. SDVs are basically vehicles that are heavily dependent on software in order for them to work. This has enabled automakers to reduce the number of wires and electronic control units (ECUs, which are also different from engine control units) being used in vehicles for its various features. The newly-launched Geely EX5 is one such SDV, and here in the Philippines, Geely’s latest electric rival to the BYD Atto 3 is set to receive a major over-the-air update.

Heading to every Geely EX5 globally from mid-to-late August to September, the update focuses on the deeper integration of Apple CarPlay, refining the Acoustic Vehicle Alerting System (AVAS) low-speed alert sound, and enhancing the multi-language system. Here’s a breakdown of what each enhancement will do to your EX5.

• Apple CarPlay Integration: Adds support for steering wheel voice control buttons and one-touch activation, enabling voice dialing, navigation, and music control. Fully compatible with major audio platforms such as Apple Music and Spotify
• AVAS Low-Speed Alert Optimization: the sound that the vehicle emits for pedestrian safety regulations will be updated with a more distinctive warning tone and reduced default volume. This ensures improved pedestrian safety while maintaining a quieter cabin environment
• Expanded Language Support: adding Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Polish to the in-vehicle system, while enhancing English and other multi-language capabilities for deeper functionality.
