UPDATE: The 2027 Honda City has been unveiled in Thailand just a moment after it was unveiled in India. The article has been updated with photos from the Thai market.
Following a leak a week before today’s launch, the 2027 Honda City has officially been revealed in India, and shortly after, in Thailand as well. As one of Honda’s best-selling nameplates in the Asia Pacific region, the City is a very important model, and so for this generation, it is extending its life by giving it another facelift.
For this second facelift, the 2027 Honda City gains new LED headlights, which are connected by a full-width LED light bar. The design is very reminiscent of the Prelude and, to some degree, the Hyundai Elantra, too. Right below it is a redesigned lower air intake, which connects to the triangular side air intake housings in the case of the RS. Lower trims get a slightly different front bumper, with a larger triangular panel for the side air intakes.
The side profile remains the same, but the rear end now comes with available smoked LED taillights. There’s also a new rear bumper design that mirrors the look of the new front bumper. Topping it all off are new alloy wheel designs, depending on the variant.
As for the interior, the dash has been redesigned to accommodate the new 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen. The dash now incorporates full-width ambient LED lighting as well. For the Indian market, the City comes with ventilated front seats, and this is a feature we hope will eventually be offered in the Philippines due to our hot climate. Of course, the Honda Sensing suite of advanced safety features is fitted as standard.
Powering the 2027 Honda City are two engine choices. A familiar 1.5-liter i-VTEC four-cylinder remains, and it’s the main engine choice for most City variants. Power figures are unchanged, as it still produces 121 horsepower and 145 Nm of torque, which drives the front wheels via a CVT. The other engine choice is a 1.5-liter e:HEV hybrid system that’s also found in the HR-V, and it produces a total system output of 126 horsepower. This drives the front wheels via a lockup clutch-based e-CVT.
With the new 2027 Honda City already being revealed in India, it is only a matter of time before it comes to the Philippines. However, this article has been updated as the new City has also been revealed in Thailand moments after its global reveal in India. With that in mind, a Philippine launch is likely going to happen very soon.
