BMW PH Introduces More Affordable X5 Plug-In Hybrid Variant For P5.498M

The BMW X5 plug-in hybrid now has a new, more affordable xLine variant, capped at 50 units, each priced at P5,498,000.

The BMW X5 plug-in hybrid, dubbed the xDrive50e, has quickly become one of the brand’s more popular models in the Philippines thanks to its solid value proposition and blisteringly quick performance. It was also more affordable than the xDrive30d diesel it replaced by quite a margin, thanks to our laws favoring electrified vehicles. Today, the X5 plug-in hybrid is set to become even more affordable with the launch of a new xLine variant.

SMC Asia Car Distributors Corp. (SMC ACDC) says that the BMW X5 xDrive50e xLine is capped at 50 units, so if you’re interested in one, you’d better hurry up. In terms of design and features, the xLine variant has a more rugged exterior design that’s characterized by more black cladding and satin silver exterior trims. The kidney grilles still feature the IconicGlow LED illumination, and these are complemented by full LED headlights and taillights. Lastly, the exterior features 19-inch wheels in a more elegant design and a silver finish.

Whereas the X5 xDrive50e M Sport focuses on a sporty interior, the xLine version offers a more elegant execution. Occupants are treated to Sensafin Décor Stitching upholstery, which is accented by exquisite “Fineline Stripe” brown high-gloss wood veneer. Leather upholstery with power adjustment for the front occupants comes as standard. As usual in a BMW, two large screens are running the latest iDrive 8.5 operating system with BMW ConnectedDrive telematics. There’s also a HiFi loudspeaker system, a Comfort Access System, and a wireless charging tray, while comprehensive safety is ensured via the integrated Driving Assistant and Parking Assistant suite of advanced driver-assistance features.

As expected, the new BMW X5 xDrive50e xLine is powered by a familiar 3.0-liter turbocharged straight-six gasoline engine called the B58. This engine already has a legendary status, as it’s fitted to the GR Supra and models like the M340i. Paired with an electric motor mounted together with the ZF eight-speed automatic (this makes it a parallel hybrid system), the X5 xDrive50e has a total system output of 483 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque. That’s enough for this midsize luxury SUV to rocket from 0-100 kph in just 4.5 seconds, all the way to a 250 kph electronically-limited top speed.

But of course, the main appeal of a plug-in hybrid is its ability to cruise in pure electric mode for such a long distance. In this case, with its large 27.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, the X5 xDrive50e has a WLTP-rated range of 118 kilometers. The battery is charged solely through AC, with a maximum charge rate of 7.4 kW.

Customers can select from a brilliant palette of metallic exterior finishes, including Mineral White, Black Sapphire, Manhattan, Skyscraper Grey, and Blue Ridge Mountain, paired with premium Sensafin interior tones, including Black, Coffee, or Cognac.

The new BMW X5 xDrive50e xLine is offered at P5,498,000 and comes complete with a portable flexi charger, a 5-year comprehensive BMW warranty (or 200,000km, whichever comes first), and an 8-year warranty for the electric battery (or 120,000km, whichever comes first).
