The Honda Accord has been discontinued in the Philippines since 2022, but in the Japanese automaker’s home of Japan, the Accord is still being produced. Midsize sedans have fallen out of favor in our market, but the Accord is still significant enough for it to receive an update for 2027.
Despite the external changes, though, this is still not yet a facelift. The exterior of the current Accord, which has been on sale since 2023, merely sees its lower trims being body colored this time around. The grille of the 2027 Honda Accord also gets this body colored treatment, while the LED headlights ditch the orange side lights for clear ones. Overall, the increased use of body-colored trims has made the Accord midsize sedan look cleaner.
There are no interior changes, either. In Japan, the Accord still gets the novel Experience Selection Dial below the 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment with Google Built-In, along with leather upholstery and a 10.2-inch frameless digital gauge cluster, among other premium features.
What Honda wants to highlight in the new 2027 Accord is its Honda Sensing 360+. Building upon the Honda Sensing suite of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), Honda Sensing 360+ allows for hands-free driving on certain highways. This was made possible due to high-resolution mapping, down to the available lanes and off-ramps of mapped highways in Japan.
Underneath the hood of the 2027 Honda Accord is the same 2.0-liter four-cylinder e:HEV hybrid system that’s also used in the CR-V, though for the Japanese market, its output is 181 horsepower and 315 Nm of torque. This drives the front wheels via a lockup clutch-based e-CVT.
Though the Honda Sensing 360+ is unlikely to be offered outside Japan, the aesthetic changes will likely be offered globally. As for the Philippines, we can only dream of Honda Cars Philippines offering the Accord midsize sedan once again in our market. This segment, after all, has shrunk to a point that only the Camry has become the sole survivor.
