The current Suzuki XL7 has been with us since 2020, which means that it is now a seven-year-old model. The XL7 is an Ertiga-based MPV with rugged styling and higher ground clearance, and for the 2027 model year, it is getting a comprehensive facelift to keep it fresh amidst stiffer competition, particularly from Chinese offerings.
This latest update introduces a new front end, wherein it now gains a larger front grille that occupies a wider section of the front fascia. These are flanked by the same LED headlights as before. The redesigned front end is complemented by vertical air intakes that contain new LED foglights.
The rest of the XL7’s body panels remain unchanged. For added style, the XL7 rides on new 16-inch silver or gloss black alloy wheels, depending on the variant, while the rear end gets a dose of sportiness with the new smoked LED taillight clusters. The new XL7 also comes with additional two-tone color choices.
Changes to the interior of the 2027 Suzuki XL7 are a bit more modest. The dash design remains largely the same, but it now gets darkened silver accents for a sportier look. What’s new this time around is the new 9-inch touchscreen, as well as the addition of new features such as a 360-degree camera, an integrated dashcam, and tire pressure monitoring.
Powertrain choices for the 2027 Suzuki XL7 are unchanged, as it still gets a familiar 1.5-liter four-cylinder that produces 103 horsepower and 138 Nm of torque. In Indonesia, where the vehicle made its debut, this 1.5-liter four-cylinder comes with or without mild hybrid electrification. This doesn’t result in a power gain, though it improves fuel efficiency–but only just. As before, it is fitted to a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic.
With Philippine-market XL7s sourced from Indonesia, it is only a matter of time before it arrives in our market. The question now is, are these updates enough to keep the XL7 competitive?
