2027 Lexus NX Receives A Very Comprehensive Facelift

The 2027 Lexus NX receives a very comprehensive facelift that's almost worthy of being a new generation model.

Lexus has given its second-generation NX a mid-cycle facelift for the 2027 model year, and as the model approaches five years of age, its mid-cycle facelift is quite comprehensive. What’s also noteworthy is that, the 2027 Lexus NX is going all-in on hybrids, with no non-electrified model beginning with this model year.

But first, let’s talk about its exterior design. The updates are quite extensive for a mid-cycle facelift. It builds upon the Vital x Tech design theme that Lexus designers have followed since this model debuted five years ago, whilst adopting some of the brand’s latest design cues to bring the NX up to speed with the family look.

The NX’s Spindle Grille has been reshaped, and it visually connects to the lower horizontal air intakes as well as the new LED headlights. A triangular trim piece that mimics an air vent adds sportiness to the front end design. All models also have a gloss black lower chin, while F Sport models have a sportier bumper design.

At the sides, the F Sport model also features a new alloy wheel design, along with black wheel arches instead of the body colored ones in the standard model. The rear end also sees comprehensive changes. The tailgate has been redesigned, with the full-width LED taillights now having a gloss black enclosure, and the LEXUS wordmark is now part of the taillight illumination. Lastly, the F Sport model has sportier rear bumpers, with the faux air vents in gloss black housing.

Likewise, its interior has received a comprehensive redesign. The dashboard is completely new, and it is clearly inspired by the newly-redesigned ES. There’s a plethora of plush materials, along with a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster and 14-inch touchscreen running Toyota’s latest Arene OS. There’s also some degree of physical controls, but these are embedded directly into the dashboard trim. Some of the other interior highlights include Dark Brown Oak wood trim, Forged Bamboo made out of 55 percent bio-materials, ambient LED lighting, and an available Mark Levinson surround sound system.

As mentioned, the 2027 Lexus NX is going all-hybrid, and the range kicks off with a new variant called the NX 300h. This has a 2.0-liter four-cylinder and an eCVT, with a total system output of 194 horsepower.

The NX 350h, meanwhile, gets the new sixth-generation Toyota Hybrid System (THS VI) that’s also used in the new ES. Output is anywhere from 188 to 241 horsepower, depending on the configuration, but the highlight of THS VI is that its power control unit and transaxle are now combined in a single unit for better packaging. This also results in a higher pure electric driving ratio and improved performance.

Meanwhile, the plug-in hybrid NX 450h+ also gets improvements, and its power output ranges from 288 to 322 horsepower, depending on the market. The pure electric range increases to 100 kilometers (+26 kilometers) based on WLTP testing, thanks to a larger battery and improved efficiency from the use of THS VI. DC fast charging capability is new for the NX 450h+, along with a power-operated charging door.

Global rollout of the 2027 Lexus NX is scheduled to begin by the end of 2026. Our hunch is that a Philippine launch may likely happen in mid-2027.
