BYD Cars Philippines closed August 2026 with 4,682 units sold, bringing its January-to-August total to 28,399 units for the year. The eight-month performance represents a 99% year-on-year increase and has already carried the brand past its full-year 2025 total of 26,122 units, a milestone that was achieved a full four months ahead of schedule.
The numbers in August reflect the brand’s strong momentum this year. Part of this included a record-setting April 2026, when BYD Cars Philippines posted its highest-ever monthly sales figure of 5,730 units, up 258% year-on-year from April 2025. Together, these results point to sustained and broadening demand for the brand’s New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) across the country.
Much of this growth has been powered by BYD’s plug-in hybrid technology. From January to August 2026, the brand sold 22,555 DM-i vehicles, a 95% year-on-year increase from 11,542 units in the same period last year. The BYD Sealion 6 DM-i leads this segment and also stands as the brand’s best-selling model overall with 7,759 units sold, accounting for 27% of total company sales. The BYD eMAX 9 DM-i has also contributed strongly to this category with 2,512 units sold year-to-date as of August.
BYD’s fully electric lineup has also seen triple-digit growth. Battery electric vehicle (BEV) sales reached 5,844 units from January to August 2026, up 115% from 2,720 units in the same period in 2025. The BYD eMAX 7 led this segment as the top-selling BEV, with 1,975 units sold, representing 34% of the brand’s total BEV sales for the period.
“The market’s response to our best-selling models, like the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i, the eMAX 9 DM-i and the eMAX 7 BEV, and our achievement of crossing our full-year 2025 sales is proof that electric vehicles have entered the mainstream in the Philippines,” said Bob Palanca, Managing Director of BYD Cars Philippines. “Filipino consumers are choosing BYD because our vehicles deliver what matters most: innovation, practicality, reliability, and lower ownership costs without compromise. As electric mobility continues to accelerate across the country, BYD is proud to lead the shift, and we remain committed to bring more world-class electric and plug-in hybrid technologies to Filipino drivers.”
This global performance aligns with BYD’s broader success, with the brand recording 440,293 in worldwide NEV sales for August 2026.
This growth trajectory has also gone hand in hand with the continued expansion of BYD’s dealership network, which now stands at 81 dealerships nationwide, bringing sales and after-sales support closer to customers in more cities and provinces across the Philippines.
