Kia Philippines isn’t resting on its laurels with its third new vehicle launch this year. This is the new 2027 Kia EV3, which originally made its global debut in 2024, and now it has begun its global sales rollout, including in the Philippines. As Kia’s most affordable electric vehicle (EV) to date, here’s what you need to know about the brand-new EV3.
Despite being Kia’s most affordable EV in the Philippines to date, the EV3 is still as stylish as any of the brand’s more expensive models. We applaud the fact that the production EV3 looks nearly identical to the concept that previewed it. Donning the brand’s signature Opposites United design language, the EV3 has an upright shape, composed of a pair of vertical and slim LED headlights with Kia’s “Star Map” LED daytime running lights.
The side profile contains flush door handles and an integrated C-pillar door handle for a cleaner look. 17-inch alloy wheels are fitted to the single variant on offer as well. Thick wheel arches and vertical lines give plenty of visual contrast to the EV3, and this results in a very striking silhouette. Finally, there’s a set of tall LED taillights that mirror the Star Map LED daytime running lights at the front.
Moving towards the interior, the 2027 Kia EV3 continues to feature a lounge-like layout, as with most of its EV models. The 2.68-meter long wheelbase enables this 4.3-meter long subcompact crossover to possess a very spacious interior. Further improving upon the interior space utilization is the use of interesting shapes and colors that are welcoming and warm to the eyes. Kia is also proud to highlight that the EV3’s interior is made of sustainable yet premium materials.
Kia continues to improve upon an EV’s interior space utilization through a few ingenious features. This includes a sliding center console table that’s stored under the center armrest, while the LED ambient lighting sets the interior mood.
Also worth mentioning is the 2027 Kia EV3’s pair of 12.3-inch screens, housed in a glass panel and powered by Hyundai Motor Group’s (HMG) connected car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) operating system. This comes with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a six-speaker sound system. Kia has still given the EV3’s interior plenty of physical controls, which is always a plus for usability. Lastly, there are two wireless charging pads and a power-adjustable driver’s seat.
For the Philippine market, the 2027 Kia EV3 will be offered with a front-wheel drive (FWD) layout for the single electric motor producing 204 horsepower and 283 Nm of torque. What will be offered in our market is the Standard Range version with a 58.3 kWh lithium-ion NMC battery pack that’s good for a WLTP-rated range of 436 kilometers.
Though it rides on the award-winning E-GMP platform as with other HMG-developed EVs, the EV3 uses a 400-volt electrical architecture instead of 800 volts. Yet its DC fast charging still tops out at an impressive 350 kW, which is good for a 10 to 80 percent charge in just 29 minutes. Meanwhile, AC charging is capped at 11 kW, which is good for a 10 to 80 percent charge in 5 hours and 20 minutes.
Finally, the 2027 Kia EV3 is fully equipped with the entire Kia DriveWise suite of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS). This includes Advanced Smart Cruise Control, Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance Assist, Lane Following Assist, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, and a reverse camera (not a 360-degree camera), just to name a few.
As Kia Philippines aims to bolster its electrification plans in the country, the EV3 has a competitive price of P1,898,000. Until the end of October, the EV3 has a special introductory price of P1,868,000, and it comes with five years of free maintenance as well.
