LOOK: Next-Generation Nissan Skyline Debuts December 2026

The next-generation Nissan Skyline now has a launch date of December 2026. It's the first model to undergo Nissan's accelerated development.

As part of Nissan’s Re:Nissan comeback plan, the Japanese automaker aims to revitalize its lineup not only with more competitive mainstream vehicles but also by releasing vehicles that appeal to car enthusiasts. At the top of that list is the next-generation Nissan Skyline, now with a confirmed comeback date: December 2026.

The launch date of the next-generation Nissan Skyline was confirmed by none other than Nissan’s CEO Ivan Espinosa through an interview with the Japanese newspaper Asahi Shimbun. “It would be one of the icons of a comeback that we have been working on,” he said.

Take note, however, that the Skyline lineage historically includes a sports sedan, and this is what is expected to be revealed this December. Not a lot of details about the next-generation Skyline are known, though based on teasers from last April, its design pays homage to the third-generation model, nicknamed “Hakosuka”. Some of those design details include the retro-inspired rear quarter profile and the aggressive and angular face. Meanwhile, the LED taillights feature quad circles, which are in reference to the more recent Skylines.

Nissan has taken note of the ever-competitive automotive market, and as a direct response, the Skyline is the first model to take advantage of the brand’s accelerated development process. Espinosa says:

“It’s an icon of speed, it’s an icon of speed as a car, but it’s an icon of the speed of Nissan, because this car is the first that is running under the new accelerated development process. It’s a car that is proof that our engineering capabilities are not only about making great cars, but also making them with speed. We will be having a launch event in December.”

The Skyline sports sedan has always been exported to North America with an Infiniti badge, and so we’re expecting that the next-generation model to serve as the foundation for the next-generation Infiniti Q50. With that in mind, the Skyline sedan will likely borrow the 3.0-liter twin-turbo VR30DDTT V6 from the Nissan Z, which produces 383 horsepower and 475 Nm of torque in Philippine-market spec.

The debut of the next-generation Nissan Skyline comes right after the company returned to profitability in the April to June quarter–the first time in two years. The Skyline also serves as the culmination of Nissan’s plan of not just returning to profitability, but to also injecting passion and joy into the brand.
