Kia Philippines isn’t resting on its laurels after it has already launched three cars in the market this year. After the EV5, Sportage Hybrid, and EV3, there is now the new Kia PV5, an electric vehicle (EV) that will primarily be used for cargo hauling.
For now, there is no passenger version of the PV5, and so what you’ll be getting is an electric van with a sleek exterior design, especially for a vehicle with utility in mind. Sleek LED headlights integrated into the enclosed front fascia help achieve a sleeker look, while the main LED beams are visually concealed in the bumpers.
In typical Kia fashion, the PV5 has trendy geometric wheels, which easily stand out, especially next to other vans. With visibility being an important factor in such a vehicle, the window line is low, providing excellent sideward visibility. Vertical LED taillights cast a distinct glow at night, while the rear doors open sideways for ease of access.
Measuring 4,695 mm long and built on top of a bespoke EV architecture, you can expect plenty of cargo space. In fact, you’ve got 4,420 liters of cargo volume that can haul 805 kg of cargo.
Those up front, doing the driver duties, will appreciate the tech-forward amenities. This is the first vehicle to utilize Hyundai Motor Group’s new Pleos operating system, which is a software-defined vehicle (SDV) platform. Pleos is based on Android Automotive OS, and the central 12.9-inch touchscreen supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The driver also gets its own 7.5-inch digital gauge cluster.
The Kia DriveWise advanced safety suite is also fitted here, which includes Forward Collision Avoidance Assist with Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Smart Cruise Control (SCC), Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS), and Lane Following Assist (LFA). Driver Attention Warning and Auto Light Control.
Powering the Kia PV5 is a front electric motor that produces 163 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. Through a 51.5 kWh lithium-ion nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) battery pack, it has an NEDC range of 384 kilometers. With a maximum DC fast charging output of 350 kW, the PV5 can charge from 10 to 80 percent in 30 minutes. Meanwhile, AC charging tops out at 11 kW, which is good for a 10 to 80 percent charge in 4 hours and 45 minutes.
The Kia PV5 is now on sale in the Philippines for P2,098,000. Every Kia PV5 purchase is fully integrated into ACMobility’s commercial ecosystem, providing access to dedicated B2B fleet solutions such as ChargeFleet management, Greenstrum infrastructure support, Power-on-Wheels mobile charging support, and access to the Evro charging network.
