2027 Mazda CX-80 Plug-In Hybrid Arrives In PH, Priced From P4.180M

This is the new 2027 Mazda CX-80 PHEV, which is now in the Philippines as the brand's first offering with a plug.

Mazda Philippines is expanding its lineup to finally include its first-ever plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) offering. Say hello to the 2027 Mazda CX-80 PHEV, which sits below the CX-90 but above the CX-60 in terms of size.

The 2027 Mazda CX-80 PHEV is part of the brand’s Large Product Group platform, whose rear-wheel drive (RWD) longitudinal layout is meant to prioritize a sporty driving experience. Design-wise, the CX-80 is pretty much a stretched CX-60, as the two crossover SUVs share a similar front fascia and the exact same width. In fact, the grille, front bumper, LED headlights, and taillights are shared across the two models.

Where they obviously differ is in the side profile, with the rear doors seeing the most stretch in order to make it easy to access the third row. The standard black 20-inch wheels are also shared from the diesel variant of the CX-60 in the Philippines, though at least the rear-end treatment sees a complete redesign of the D-pillar. Speaking of which, the chrome trim surrounding the windows is thicker at the rear window to serve as another visual cue to set the CX-80 apart from the CX-60.

Unsurprisingly, the CX-80’s interior is also similar to the CX-60’s, which is mostly a good thing. The interior is filled with plush materials and premium features, ranging from the two digital displays to the Mazda Connect infotainment and the Bose sound system. Front occupants get power-adjustable front seats with cooling, while the driver gets power adjustment for the steering column, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, and a head-up display.

There are three variants of the 2027 Mazda CX-80 PHEV, and they are only separated by their interior upholstery and second-row configuration. All variants have plush Nappa Leather, though in the seven-seater version, you get a choice of a black or tan color scheme. Meanwhile, for the six-seater version with a fixed center console, a tan interior is your only choice. Regardless of the seating or upholstery choice, a panoramic sunroof, three-zone climate control, USB-C charging ports at the second- and third-row seats, rear sunshades, and a powered tailgate come as standard.

As the name suggests, the 2027 Mazda CX-80 PHEV gets a plug-in hybrid system that combines the familiar 2.5-liter Skyactiv-G gasoline engine with an electric motor integrated into the eight-speed multi-plate clutch automatic. The parallel hybrid configuration delivers a total system output of 327 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque, which is good enough for a 0-100 kph time of 6.8 seconds.

With its 17.8 kWh lithium-ion NMC battery pack, the CX-80 PHEV offers up to 65 kilometers of WLTP-rated electric range. The vehicle can be charged at up to 7.2 kW in AC, which is good for a 0-100 percent charge in 2.5 hours.

Finally, the 2027 Mazda CX-80 PHEV comes as standard with the full i-Activsense suite of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), which includes Smart Brake Support (SBS), Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) with Stop and Go, Cruising and Traffic Support (CTS), Emergency Lane Keeping (ELK) with Lane-Keep Assist (LAS), Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) with Vehicle Exit Warning, as well as Front and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. A Driver Monitoring System also monitors the driver’s face to detect distractions or drowsiness, while a 360-degree camera with all-around sensors helps in maneuvering this 4.9-meter-long crossover SUV.

The 2027 Mazda CX-80 is now available for pre-order, with deliveries commencing in December. Here are the prices of the three variants:

  • 2.5 AWD PHEV: P4,180,000
  • 2.5 AWD PHEV Premium: P4,230,000
  • 2.5 AWD PHEV Exclusive: P4,280,000
