Geely Motor Philippines continues to make waves as it launches back-to-back sensational hits. Coming off the popular EX5 EM-i and the bestselling EX2, the new 2027 Geely Monjaro EM-i once again aims to disrupt the market.
The Monjaro EM-i is a highly anticipated model. We’ve written about its global debut a couple of years ago, when it was still called the Xingyue L. Initially their global flagship model, the Monjaro EM-i has upmarket ambitions but at a highly competitive P1,868,000 price tag.
In its transition into the Monjaro EM-i, the Volvo-based CMA platform has been ditched in favor of the GEA Evo platform that’s designed to accommodate a plug-in hybrid drivetrain. Speaking of the plug-in hybrid system, its 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder is mated to an electric motor and a three-speed Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT). Combined, its system output is a whopping 335 horsepower and 667 Nm of torque, which is good enough for a 0-100 kph time of just 5.83 seconds. Its top speed is 190 kph.
Thanks to the 29.8 kWh lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery, it has a solid pure electric range of 130 kilometers and a total driving range of 1,095 kilometers, both under NEDC testing. The battery supports up to 78 kW of DC fast charging, which is good for a 30 to 80 percent charge in 15 minutes. Meanwhile, AC charging is up to 6.6 kW, which is good for a 20 to 100 percent charge in 4.2 hours. Impressively, its vehicle-to-load (V2L) output is 6 kW, which is strong enough to even charge another electric or plug-in hybrid vehicle.
Measuring 4,800 mm long, the 2027 Geely Monjaro EM-i is a midsize crossover SUV. On the outside, the Monjaro dons Geely’s signature Energy-String vertical front grille, whose upright design helps it evoke an elegant face. There are also full LED headlights, a chiseled front bumper, and 20-inch wheels with a diamond-cut two-tone finish.
At the back, there’s a gently sloping roofline that tapers to the rear tailgate, which contains full-width LED taillights. The design of the rear bumper mirrors that of the front, and as you would expect, a power tailgate comes as standard.
Inside, the 2027 Geely Monjaro EM-i’s upmarket ambitions are in full force. The Amber Brown interior is finished in generous soft-touch materials, while the near-absence of gloss black plastic is a visual win in our book. The seat materials are a mix of faux suede and leather. There’s a decorative faux wood matte surface on the passenger’s side, which features an engraving of a mountain range that adds an elegant touch to the interior. It is also worth noting that though this is a midsize crossover SUV, it doesn’t come with a third row.
Not only does it feel premium, but its features are also beyond the norm for the segment. We’re talking about 256-color LED ambient lighting, power-adjustable front seats with ventilation, and get this, even a massage function. There’s dual-zone climate control and also a lay-flat function for the front passenger’s seat. As expected, the Monjaro EM-i is also heavy on software. The 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 25.6-inch head-up display, and 15.4-inch touchscreen are all powered by Geely’s Flyme Auto operating system, and this is augmented by a 16-speaker Flyme Audio sound system with headrest speakers.
Finally, the 2027 Geely Monjaro EM-i comes with a full suite of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), such as Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC), Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Lane Change Assist, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Rear Collision Warning, Door Open Warning and Traffic Sign Recognition. There’s also a 540-degree panoramic view with transparent chassis view, plus front and rear parking sensors.
As mentioned, the 2027 Geely Monjaro EM-i has a very competitive price of P1,868,000, but for a limited time, until December 31, 2026, buyers can take advantage of the Monjaro EM-i Exclusive Launch Privileges:
- P60,000 Instant Savings through an exclusive launch discount
