Suzuki Philippines Inc., which is a newcomer for the Manila International Auto Show, has previewed to the public its upcoming all-new DZire sedan, dropping the Swift from its name and becoming an independent model from the popular small hatchback.
The Suzuki DZire is underpinned by the brand’s new HEARTECT platform, which is stiffer and lighter than ever before, promising to offer best in class handling and safety. Riding on top of this new platform is an all-new design that features a sportier, more aggressive front-end, highlighted by its sporty hexagonal grille and more aggressive headlight design. At the rear, the proportions have been enhanced by Suzuki’s engineers in order to give the DZire a more cohesive stance.
Inside, the Suzuki DZire features a sportier design than its predecessor. A sporty three-spoke steering wheel creates a youthful vibe in the interior, strengthening its appeal to customer further than before.
Powering the DZire is a 1.2 liter inline-4 petrol engine that produces 82 hp and 113 Nm of torque. Power is sent through the front wheels via a 5-speed Auto Gear Shift automated manual transmission that Suzuki says combines the benefits of a manual and an automatic transmission in one gearbox. A 5-speed manual will also be offered.
According to Suzuki Philippines Inc., the DZire that was shown is not in its final specificaion. Rest assured that the company will be doing its best to spec the DZire with many of the features that the modern Filipino needs in their daily commute.
The Suzuki DZire’s formal launch will be held sometime this year, so stay tuned to Go Flat Out for more.
