The all-new Mazda 3 is the first of the Japanese brand’s second-generation line of products. When it finally made its local debut last night, one of its key features that were mentioned is the addition of the full suite of i-ACTIVSENSE advanced driver-assist features. This makes the all-new Mazda 3 the first Philippine market Mazda to receive the full suite of Mazda’s i-ACTIVSENSE driver-assist technologies. While current and past models offered blind spot warning with rear cross traffic alert, lane departure warning, and lane keeping assist, those features only make up half of what i-ACTIVSENSE offers.
i-ACTIVSENSE is comparable to Subaru EyeSight and Honda Sensing, as it uses a combination of cameras and millimeter-wave radars. i-ACTIVSENSE aims to reduce driver fatigue during traffic and long drives by offering driving convenience features such as full-speed (stop and go) adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and lane keeping assist.
Meanwhile, its preventive advanced safety features include front and rear automatic emergency braking and blind spot warning, and rear cross traffic alert. Making its debut globally in the all-new Mazda 3 is the addition of front cross traffic alert (for the sedan only) and driver attention monitor.
High beam assist and adaptive LED headlights are also part of the i-ACTIVSENSE suite of safety features, which individually dims each LED bulb inside the headlamp housing to avoid dazzling drivers at night when the headlamps are left in automatic mode.
Pricey as the all-new Mazda 3 may seem on paper, but it’s been elevated with plenty of standard features for all variants. Mazda’s i-ACTIVSENSE is offered as standard on all of the 2.0-liter variants of the Mazda 3, which has an MSRP of P1,495,000 for the 2.0 Premium Sedan, P1,510,000 for the 2.0 Premium Sportback, and P1,590,000 for the Speed. This comes on top of having a full leather interior, sunroof, 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with two-person memory, frameless auto-dimming rearview mirror, 12-speaker Bose sound system, 360-degree around view camera, and dual-zone climate control with rear aircon vents.
