Honda Cars PH Welcomes New President Amid COVID-19 Pandemic

Mr. Masahiko Nakamura is now Honda Cars Philippines, Inc.'s new president. He has the credentials to steer the company amid challenging times.

Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) officially says farewell and best of wishes to Mr. Noriyuki Takakura, the outgoing president of the Japanese automaker. Takakura-san’s next assignment will be at Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (HATC). Effective today, April 1, 2020, Mr. Masahiko Nakamura will be HCPI’s new president.

His arrival in the Philippines comes at a time when the world is facing huge challenges. With the International Monetary Fund (IMF) declaring that the global economy is now in a recession, the automotive landscape both globally and locally will be extremely challenging in the coming years. The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) has also lowered economic growth projections for the Philippine economy this year. To top it all off, HCPI just recently closed its assembly plant in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. To say that the road ahead of Nakamura-san is going to be difficult is probably an understatement at this point.

Despite all these, Nakamura-san has the credentials to steer Honda Cars Philippines in the right direction during these challenging times. Since 2016, Mr. Nakamura has held deputy general manager positions in various divisions at the Honda Motor Co., Ltd. headquarters in Japan, gaining expertise in sales, business strategy, and marketing. Overall, Mr. Nakamura has more than 30 years of experience in Honda automobile operations.

The new HCPI top executive looks forward to sharing his expertise with the local team as he hopes to steer Honda’s automobile business through a challenging local and global automotive landscape.
